Lake Trip Gone Wrong...-Wesley Jordan (#10)

About two hours ago I got back from Mountain View. We have a camper up in Mountain View with our own ground by it. Down a little ways from where our camper is there is a little creek that you can float, swim, and enjoy a great time with family and friends. Well this year we decided that the creek is getting a little boring that we would adventure to the Norfork Lake. So we went out and bought a used pontoon at the beginning of the year with my parents high school friends. It wasn't a bad looking bought after we got it cleaned up. The motor on it needed some work but we got it all fixed up and it worked like a charm!
So on June 25th 2016, we decided that we would go out on the lake. It was only nine of us that went on the lake that day. The pontoon started up great after we left the dock and everything. We went and got some gas for the pontoon and we set of to some cliffs. We got to the cliffs and we all jumped off of them a few times and had a great time doing so. But then we decided that we would go somewhere else, into one of the coves. We were in the cove where no one but us were at. We swam for about a hour or more and I started to get bored. So I suggested that we would go to the cliff again.
Everyone climbs onto the pontoon and my dad was fixing to take off. When he tried to start it, it wouldn't start. Him and one of his friends worked on it for about 30 min and it still wouldn't work. So we called the closest marina to come out and help us. They told us it would be TWO HOURS before they would be able to come and help us out. We couldn't tell them exactly where we were because there are a lot of coves on the lake. So we pulled and pushed our boat out to the middle of the lake so that when they came after two hours they would be able to see us.
They finally came and helped us out and we go back to our dock. We got into the truck and started off back to our camp ground. It was a long and tiring day setting on the lake all day. But I am thankful that we were safe and that we got back to the camp ground. Adios pontoon, I'm never riding on you again.

  1. Hey Wes. It sounded like you had a good time before the boat wouldn't start, so that's good I guess. I bet it was really tiring and exhausting waiting for the marina boat for two hours. I'm glad y'all didn't run into any cliffs or anything while the boat wasn't working. I'm at the lake right now. I don't blame you, I wouldn't get on the pontoon again either. I love both Mountain View and the lake, and one trip with both of them sounds really fun. I hope you've had a good summer (ya know besides getting stranded in the middle of the lake in a broken pontoon) :-)

  2. I really enjoyed this trip, Wes! I'm so happy that I got to go with you! I loved getting to hang out with your family and the Meurer's. I also liked floating down the creek, I had never done that before, lol. I will never forget this lake trip. I laughed so hard when we had to pull the boat out of the cove by the rope! But I have to admit, waiting on the marina until eight was a little exhausting. Anyway, I am so glad you invited me to this trip with you, it's one that I'll never forget! I hope I get to go again some day. Have a great summer!
