Over the course of the summer, I took many river and lake trips. However, the most memorable trip of all of them was the trip my mom, sister, and I took to Kentucky. My mom had just found the love for white water rafting, so we found a place in Kentucky to go white water rafting. This place was located on the top of a huge hill where we could see over a big part of the city. I had also never been to Kentucky, so I was really excited to go. We stayed in Corbin, Kentucky for three nights. The second day we were there, we went white water rafting for six hours on the Cumberland River. On this river, there is a huge waterfall, and our guide had us paddle into the bottom of it. This waterfall had a rainbow where the two surfaces of water met. We met a lot of people that were in our group and learned a lot about the activity. While we were rafting, we saw seven different bald eagles and three different waterfalls along the way. After we got done paddling down the river, we had lunch on a two-story river boat with all the guides and people in our group. We saw a big amount of Laurel Lake which is the lake that the Cumberland River flows into. Once we got off the riverboat, my mom, sister, and I headed to the private beach on Laurel Lake. We swam and layed out in the sand on this lake. We also watched a family tube, wakeboard, and ski. After we left Corbin, we headed to Lexington to see the horses there. We toured the castle right when we got into Lexington, and also saw a great amount of beautiful horses. My mom freaked out about this really old diner on the outskirts of Lexington, so that is where we had lunch before we headed back to Arkansas. All in all, it was a very fun trip, and I got to visit a state that I had never visited before and tried something new with my family.
