My Summer So Far 4/11- Alexis Roberson

This writing a blog thing is getting kind of fun actually.

I’m debating on which song I want to learn on my keyboard next.

One of my followers suggested Hold On by Chords Overstreet.

I keep going back to Piece by Piece by Kelly Clarkson, or Impossible by Shontelle.

I will see which one is easier. They both would be fun songs to learn.

I’m also debating on learning Good God Almighty on my keyboard as well.

I plan on learning all of them, I’m just trying to decide which one is next.

What do you think? More than likely, I would go with Impossible.

It seems to be the one sticking out to me the most right now. Let me know your thoughts as well.

I could really use that, I’m a very indecisive person sometimes.

I try to be funny and witty when writing my blogs. I don’t think I come across that way.

I just find it more cringe then I mean it to be. I’m reading The Twin by Natasha Preston.

I haven’t actually read it yet, just got everything marked and set up.

I got a new hat too from cheerleading. It was an incentive for the fundraising we did.

Its black with a little trophy on the front. It’s actually really cute. I might wear it later.

Before I started blogging, I kept my journal and just transferred everything onto there.

I forgot I had a summer assignment to be honest.

I’ve been busy and it just slips my mind when I get home. Not only am I indecisive, I’m also very forgetful as well. That’s why I try to write everything down.

I was glad when I picked up my journal and just started typing over what has happened.

Even though blogging is starting to get fun now, its still weird and foreign to me.

I feel like one of those people in a Hallmark movie. Some famous writer works on her blog.

Any who, I’ve pretty much got caught up on everything that has happened to me this summer so far.

Nothing really exciting or amusing. I do hope I get to be a flyer.

I still need to work out some things though.

Until my next weird blog!

My Summer So Far 3/11 -Alexis Roberson

This year, I have a goals list and expectations. For me, I’m the “quiet” girl and I don’t really like talking in group discussions. Even writing this blog is weird to me. I’m trying to change that. It’s one of the main reasons I was even interested in trying out for cheer. To get out of my comfort zone, and push myself to be better. I hope to be more positive and more confident in myself. I also hope to speak up more. People find it weird whenever I do speak, they don’t expect my voice to be “squeaky”. Which I’ll take as a compliment. I also hope to stop procrastinating on my writers block. I’ve been struggling to proceed with my novel. There are some touch-ups on it of course, but its a goal now for sure. I have my reading list up on Goodreads, which I’ve still been using since the 7th grade I believe. It’s really helpful to keep track of the books I read, and definitely makes me keep up with my reading. If you have any recommendations of books, please list them in the comments. I really like fantasy/thriller/fiction novels. I’ve recently got into more creepy type novels.  Nothing historical, depending on the author I suppose though. I have read a few good historical books, but its not my type of genre.

Here I am talking about books. Nothing new there I guess. I get on Tiktok a lot, as I’m sure you all do too. I like going live and meeting all the new followers. It brings a highlight to my week. It’s interesting all the people who you meet or follow. You never really notice them until they are put on the spot. I also like making a bunch of ridiculously appropriate tiktoks. It adds a fundamental joy to my life like reading. It helps me to be creative, funny and out of my comfort zone for sure. It definitely challenges you on a certain level. I like playing my keyboard on there. I’ve just finished up learning Someone You Loved by Lewis Capaldi. I’m really proud of it and the accomplishment I made over the months learning it slowly.

I’ve been playing a lot of Fornite as well. I’m sort of new to the gaming community. I’ve only had my xbox for about six months. I am fairly okay at the game. I’m still trying to get the hang out it though. Hoping that I will, eventually. You all don’t want to hear about Fornite or Tiktok. Those aren’t really important I guess. I guess you can say my summer has been very chilled but busy at the same time. Oh! I almost forgot. I went on a date. It was fun and weird for me at the same time. The guy eating behind us asked if it was our first date. Which we both replied yes. It’s funny, because we were arguing over who would pay. I guess the guy took that as the first date sign. Anyways, until my next weird blog!

My Summer So Far - 2/11- Alexis Roberson

There’s really nothing interesting when writing a blog to me.

I never had fully understood the context of writing what you think.

Then, people wanting to read about it.

I find that’s what books are for, and they carry you into a whole other world.

New imaginations, characters, and storylines that bring you to life.

I guess it can be repetitive with some of the stories. I still don’t like blogging either.

I last said that I was in cheerleading. I still am, and we are having three practices a week.

We do these core workouts, they are not fun at all.

We had to do a plank with a basketball today.

I am the most unexercised person there is, I struggled so much with trying to find my balance.

I am a geek, I’m pretty sure everyone knows this. I also know how to solve the Rubik's cube too.

Well, this summer I picked it back up, and forgot a move.

Now let me tell you this, there's these “sequences” or “algorithms” that are used to solve it.

Basically a cheat sheet if you will.

This little lady forgot one of those “sequences” and imagine my reaction after trying to relearn it.

Well I was just chilling and then BOOM, it hit me, and I remembered.

I was so mad, I just shut it in my vanity and walked away.

I was also kind of glad my muscle memory kicked in, it wouldn’t have been fun relearning it, trust me.

I’m excited for school to start back again.

Not many people know this, I sort of like school, but at the same time I don’t.

I really look forward to my English classes, we either get to read or do something fun in there.

This year, however, I’m excited for the new adventure that awaits.

I get to see familiar faces again.

I was virtual all year long, and I’m excited to be able to see those familiar faces again.

I’m excited for the new cheer season coming up, and being a possible flyer.

I think that would be interesting and a bit terrifying as well.

My Summer So Far- 1/11 Alexis Roberson

Well, I am a little late starting this.

I have been busy with cheer practice, and trying to figure out what to say on here.

My summer has been going pretty good so far. It’s a bit boring really.

We have a pool and a trampoline. Both, I have not used in sometime.

Usually my sisters bring their kids over, and they go swimming in it.

I haven’t been in the pool, maybe once or twice.  I tried out as a cheer leader, and I made the team!

Never thought I would be a cheerleader.

We have been practicing stunts, and they are having me be a flyer

(put in the air) Which scared me a lot at first, but now I am slowly getting used to it.

I still have a lot of chants and cheers I need to practice and learn as well.

You know what they say, “Practice makes perfect.” Hopefully I’ll get better.

I’ve been busy with my usual fundraise for Books For Bailey.

The Mid-Southern Championship Wrestling has helped partnered with me to help with my fundraiser.

That was pretty exciting working with the wrestlers.

Now we are doing a Yoo-hoo challenge to also bring awareness.

I think they are pretty cool, especially 187, even though he's supposed to be “bad”.

They absolutely make me laugh.

I’m currently drinking my Dr. Pepper and eating my bag of barbecue chips.

I would be eating the Sour Cream and Onion, but my mom ate all of those.

I’ve been going to youth group this summer. It’s actually been fun, I have to say.

I’ve enjoyed going, and its really been an enthusiastic experience.

We are suppose to go on a St. Louis trip next month. Stay tuned for that.

I am really looking forward to their museum, which is suppose to have art, which I LOVE.

I’m a very artistic person, and I love painting and drawing. My youth pastor said I would enjoy that.

I’m taking his word for it too. I think it would be a fun and interesting experience.

It’ll also keep me from just having cheerleading this summer!

Here we go pt. 2- Hailey H

Here we go blog post number two. I don’t know what to call these things. I am not a huge fan of calling these blog posts, but that is an issue for another day. My life has been truly thrilling. I have done absolutely nothing besides going on long drives and fighting with my sisters. I can already feel your jealousy. I have been trying to pick up hobbies and the only one I’ve kept alive is attempting to learn guitar. It has not been as easy as I thought it would be. I try to practice honestly, but I end up being on my phone full of frustration. I have a goal to become the next Jimi Hendrix but that will have to wait until I can actually change chords smoothly.

I have family coming into town this weekend so hopefully I will be able to make the next entry more interesting, but for now I need to finish this one.

I am at the point in writing this where it can go a couple different ways:

  1. I could tell awful jokes

  2. Ask stupid questions

  3. Go on a rant about something neither you nor I care about

But I don’t think I am going to do any of those. Last week I read a comment that my entry was “fancy” but fun fact I only did that to reach the word count. I had nothing to really say that would not go past 230 words. Currently, I am trying to open my sisters to the wonderful world of actual good movies. Filled with sarcasm, fight scenes, and good one-liners. I hope my efforts work because I don’t think they have been really interested in movies or well anything I am which is I guess normal. But I’ve reached the point of this whole covid thing where when I make a movie/ tv reference they give me this very confused look that ends up frustrating me more each time.

Dang, I guess I did go on a rant that you probably didn’t want to hear about. Whoops. I hope your summer is going well and more interesting than mine.

2nd week of summer- 2/11- Zoey McGowan

I know that my title is very bland, but so am I. I mean what am I supposed to title this, when I've still literally done nothing. Well Saturday I did force my parents to drive to Search for  a bookstore. But guess what, it was a major flop. It was filled with those old people's books. You know, like historical fiction. Not my thing at all. So I got them to drive to Little Rock. To my favorite places ever, Barnes and Nobles. I know NERD ALERT, but hey I have to do something to pass the time (even though I just play on my phone for the entire day). I get that some people don't like reading (you weirdos), it's literally an escape to this new place. But that's not the point, the point is I went to this huge bookstore and only walked out with one. That is not normal for me. I shouldn't even be trying to get anymore books.  Like what is wrong with me, I have stacks and stacks of books just waiting to read. Here I am wanting more. My tbr (to be read) list is an ever ending cycle. I read one, add six more to the list. Wow I really have nothing to write about, so I've been talking about books for this long. Let's change the topic.

While I haven't done much yet, we have a vacation planned for the summer. At the end of the month, we are going to the beach. It's been two years since we last met. I'm excited to just get away for a while. After being locked in your house for like six months I think everyone was ready for a break. They just got it a lot sooner than I have. Some of us can't just jump up and randomly decide to go places, because we have responsibilities. Anyways I won't get into that. But an escape, especially to the ocean, is well deserved.

Also I don't remember if I said anything about this, but I got a french horn for the summer. I do not think that we will make a good match. It's just so different from a woodwind instrument. However I do hate it when people say woodwinds are easier just because we have buttons. It's not my fault you couldn't pick the right buttons, and ended up with a tuba. Before you say it, I will. 2/11- before the vid -emily fitzgerald

Before the most important coronavirus, many things were different than they are now due to the virus. I personally feel like my life is getting real close to normal again. I no longer have to wear my mask in public because I have my vaccine. It makes me feel like soon life will be great again, because oh how I took life without corona for granted. At this very moment, I am typing this while drinking some iced coffee, with a great tan, and currently watching the sunset, that's why I enjoy summer so so very much. This right now reminds me of life in quarantine, and I absolutely disliked it very much. I tend to appreciate the small things now because I realize that life can be a whole lot different within the coronavirus season. Oh, how I missed all of the hot summer nights before the virus, and now I'm getting all of the nights back. I absolutely adore going to the lake during the summer and weekend concerts. I'm slowly falling in love with life again, and that's such an accomplishment for me. I feel like every one of us takes life for granted before corona, but now we know that we need to not do that anymore because you never know what can happen. So my advice is to just live life to the fullest every day and do things that make you scared in life, you'll have way more fun that way. By the way, I hope yall are having an outstanding summer, and let me know what yall have been doing. Ever since I was a little girl, I always enjoyed summer for many things. I loved being able to go to the lake, staying up late, ice cream nights, and many different nights full of cheerleading. As I've been getting older, I've realized that things that used to make me happy just don't make me that happy anymore, but I need to change that attitude. When I change my look on life, I'll be able to love life more than I already do. Thank you for reading & I hope you have fun blogging!
