Blogosphere: Episode 7- Robert Long

Welcome back to the Blogosphere with Robert! I'd like to start this episode off with a big thank you to the ones who've read my blogs. I know, some of these aren't the most intriguing nor that attention grabbing, so thank you for reading these. Now back to your regular scheduled program.
Today's episode will be about family. For some, this is an easy topic to throw things together, but for me, it's a little more complicated. Get ready for some deep talk and big boy personal topics.
My family hasn't ever been the type of family to sit around the dinner table and talk about our day. We very rarely get together in a single room and talk. We usually cover up that fact with some dumb excuse like being too busy or faking an illness; anything we could do to avoid the topic of being together at one time. I usually just sit in my room or go out with friends, my dad is usually at work, and my mother and sister just don't seem to get along. Again, I choose to use excuses but this time, it's the truth. I can honestly say, I've had a tough life, dealing with some things I wish I hadn't, but luckily, I was able to overcome most of my obstacles. The thing I wish I had more of was support from my family. Being a middle child hasn't made anything easy to get, but that's not necessarily what I'm trying to touch on. Throughout my whole life, I've always been the last to know everything in my family. If something was happening, I'd usually have to wait until the last minute to find out or find out via eavesdropping. The only exception has always been when something needed to be done. Even to this day, I'm still the only who can mow the yard or clean the house. The excuse they usually use against me is the good ole "you're not doing anything important anyway." Yeah, I'm not doing anything important in their eyes, but over half the time, I'm doing something that I find important. I'm expected to take care of their needs before I'm able to focus on what matters to me, and I truly hope some of you can relate. That's all I have for this episode of the Blogosphere with Robert. Thank you for reading!

You’re Disrupting My Moodboard - #10 - Vin Boyd

Aesthetic is the easy word to describe anything that is symbolic of a pleasant and inspirational feeling. As an example, my aesthetic could be apple cores, Vincent van Gogh’s “Wheat Field,” and horses. Of course, unless I’m a horse girl, it’s not that.
My aesthetic, on one note, consists of biology  textbooks. Seeing black and white diagrams of dissected plants and animals and cells and reproductive organs gives me joy. It plucks at my heartstrings. Recently, I tore up some said biology books and slapped the pages onto my wall as a sort of collage. It makes me happy. It gives me simple joy.
Other pieces of imagery that give me reasons to go on are Greek sculptures. It’s not just the beautiful sculpting of naked bodies, it’s also compromised of the extreme understanding of anatomy, gravity, and reality. The way Ancient Greek sculptures are made is a highlight on what deserves to be sculpted. Our beauty standards don’t at all live up to the naturally beautiful people of our past. It makes me sad.
Along with beauty, sculptures for me signify the ability to understand the world around you. The substance of cloths and sheets and posing makes sculptures feel true and real. For me, it makes things feel a lot less worrisome. I’m able to gaze at a sculpture and feel the anxiety stream down the drain.
Another aesthetically pleasing sight to me is orange. The color, the taste, the imagery. I make collages of orange things from my childhood because it takes me back in time. Orange legos, cheap tasting orange suckers, gummy bears, Skittles, M&M’s, foxes, goldfish. I can easily say it’s one of my favorite colors.
Another pleasure of mine derived from plants. Simple nature. In my room, I have over a dozen houseplants that refuel my inspiration. I strive to have dozens more. Stepping out into nature throws me into a state of mind that’s focused entirely on serenity and peaceful behavior.
An aesthetic can be anything for anyone. It’s limitless. And any person could have dozens of things that bring them the euphoria that aesthetics provide.

Blogosphere: Episode 6- A Brief Recap- Robert Long

Welcome to episode of the Blogosphere with Robert! I'm not too sure what today's episode will be about, so here's to hoping wherever the wind takes us.
I've decided to write about my summer as a whole. This is episode six of my twelve part series, so I think it is an appropriate time to look back on the first half of my Summer 2019.
Unlike my other summer vacations, I believe this summer started off with a bit more of a bang. Usually, my summers start off pretty mundane, growing into a more energetic experience, but this year is merely an exact opposite. I started the summer off with the Hallucinatory Hotel Get-Together. spending more money than I should have on things I don't even own anymore. Then, I had the YesDog Singo-Bingo Fiasco. There wasn't anything bad that happened that night except singing my heart out the night before my choir concert. Next was moving in with my grandma. Since then, it's been a constant rollercoaster of emotions about my life choices. Luckily, I had the camping trip to take my mind off things for a few days, but that didn't last as long as I wanted it to.
Living here with my grandmother has proven quite useful, though. The environment here is completely different from what I face around the rest of my family. The quietness is a true virtue. With the spare time I find myself having, I've been able to focus more on myself. I don't want to make this all about me, but I'm going to anyway. As of today, Thursday, June 27th, I've written more pages of my novel in the past two days than I have in the past two months. I've started taking better care of myself, mentally and physically, along with teaching myself better responsibility tactics. I can only pray that these days of usefulness continue to push me to strive further in my own creation and mental design. I can on pray that I can continue to excel forward and push past the obstacles the game of life puts in my way. I can only pray for the strength to love myself more. Thank you for reading.

Blogosphere: Episode 5- Robert Long

Welcome back to another episode of the Blogosphere with Robert! The last episode was a bit personally and lacked my normal sense of humor. For that, I want to make up for it by telling you guys a little story. Hopefully, you enjoy and I can regain my laughter between us.
This story takes place on a Friday, June 14th to be exact. My cousin Christian had come to Lake City stay the weekend with his dad (my uncle) and had planned a big camping trip. He asked me to come with them and, of course, I accepted. Now, keep in mind, this was only like the second time I've been officially "camping" out in the wilderness, so I wasn't too sure what all I needed.
As I mentioned before, we left on Friday, returning on Monday of the next week. Our location of choice was Lake Charles State Park in Powhatan. I'd never been there before, nor had I even heard of it's existence, but I digress. We used this camping trip as a "bonding experience," if you will, whilst enjoying some of the beauty this state holds. It truly was refreshing to get out of the house for a few days, too.
During our camping trip, we did the basic things any camper would do. Most of our time was absorbed by fishing and talking, followed by cooking what we'd caught. It felt good living off the land like our primal ancestors before us had. It takes you back to a simpler time; before text messages and YouTube videos kept us up all night. Before screaming at one another and arguing over the TV remote. The sounds you hear out in a tree-filled forest are quite relaxing compared to what you hear down the street or in another room. Some would consider camping outside boring or a waste of time, but I felt so much better coming home, knowing that there was a place I could still go to get away from all the headaches and just relax.
I know this episode wasn't as interesting or comedic as I had planned, but at the very least, I hope I've possibly inspired some of you to enjoy the great outdoors try something besides sitting on your bed watching ghost story videos or those videos of the little African boys building villas out of clay. Thanks for reading!

Blogosphere: Episode 4- Robert Long

Welcome back to the Blogosphere with me, Robert! Today's episode will be a bit more personal than the others. I do want to point something out before I begin, the personal event episodes were during that specific week, so if the tenses of words seems off, that's why.
This week has taken quite the turn. I've just finished packing my bags and most of my belongings because I moving out. As some may know, my grandmother's health has been on a steady decline and today, it's hit a new low. While I was out with some friends at a hotel, I got a text from my dad saying that he'd just got home from my grandma's after finding her on the floor of her bathroom. I can't physically describe the feelings that boiled inside of me. I was honestly terrified of the possibilities of what could've happened and how they turned out. The next day, I rushed home to find out some somewhat good news. She hadn't physically hurt herself, but something just seemed off. She had already been struggling with the symptoms of dementia, so her memory was bad enough before the fall. After the fall, she seemed to forget everything slowly but surely. Names of friends, peoples' deaths, places she'd gone that very week. Her health seems to be getting somewhat better, despite her lack of memory. Hopefully, with me living here with her, I can help steer her back on the right track. The only thing I fear now is that I might have shown up too late. But I do have hope, so there's that.
I think taking care of my grandmother is a little tedious, but I don't really have anything else to do, so it's not too bad. I do enjoy being away from the loudness of my house.
I know this is the same blog post, but it's been six days since my last edit, and I feel like I can fit some more on this post. Within this past week of being here at my grandma's house, I've already established a pretty mundane routine, and I have to say...maybe being an old person isn't too bad. That's a joke, I swear. I think I'm going to end this post here, so I'll catch you guys in the next episode of the Blogosphere with Robert. Thank you for reading!

Blogosphere: Episode 3- Robert Long

Welcome back to the Blogosphere with Robert! Today is a different topic than the previous two episodes. In this episode, I would like to share one of my personal stories or maybe even a few.
The main story I wanted to focus on is my newest and most completed project so far. As many may know, in the 5th grade, writing hit me like a truck and I just got lost in it. I still feel the very same way and I'm hoping it sticks around. This new addition to my writing collection is called "Our Common Enemies." It's a dramatic mystery with touches of comedy throughout, aimed towards a younger audience such as myself, eventhough many of my readers happen to be older than my peers. Our Common Enemies is about three teens on the run from the law in the 1950s. They've robbed their neighbors, friends, and, at points, themselves. Their problem is the situation they've got themselves stuck in. Instead of a silky smooth robbery, their previous attempt ended with one of their acquaintances being captured and jailed. Why can't they just forget about him? He's the only one who knows where the money is. Our three antagonists need to get him out without imprisoning themselves.
There is another thing: the police aren't their only enemy. One of our three antagonists has a secret that could ruin them all. Eventually, this secret destroys the group and turns the teens on their backs, but they can't destract themselves just yet, as they are planning another scheme. During this raid, our traitor rats out the other two, getting the police involved earlier than expected. He then flees to a safehouse while the other two stay and fend for themselves. An incident brings their defense to a halt, causing one to be injured and the other to escape. The one who escaped eventually encounters some members of a mafia who had already caught wind of the trio. He then goes on the run from these criminals, along with the police, while also trying to find the traitor. Everything falls apart and the future of our characters is at stake. Thank you for reading!

Blogosphere: Episode 2- Robert Long

Welcome back to the Blogosphere! In the last episode, I talked about spending time with friends, and preserving the time you have with them. In this episode, I want to touch on that a small amount, but moreso focus on the small things in life. After the Hotel Get-Together, I had two more friends come to me with an idea. They wanted to go try something new, something I'd never heard of: Singo Bingo. Much like the previous episode, I shall keep the names of said friends unknown, but you know who you are. We went to this restaurant in Jonesboro called YesDog and ate. At YesDog, on certain days, they host this game called Singo Bingo. As the name suggests, it's a version of Bingo that uses songs instead of numbers. Each player is given a Bingo card with the titles of songs. An announcer then plays a certain song over the speakers and you have to guess what the song is, marking it off gour card. Like traditional Bingo, if you get one of the specific patterns of song titles, you shout "Bingo!", declaring your victory above all.
While this night wasn't some grand event that will be marked in history, it was still one of the better memories I've had over the course of Summer 2019. Again, I want to remind everyone what these past two blogs have been about: caring for one another and spending time together is more important than any sum of money could ever be worth.
Once more I find myself with a lack of words, so now I will proceed to ramble on about the movie Star Wars: A New Hope. A fan favorite movie in the Star Wars series and my favorite of the original trilogy. Now, I know what you're thinking: "what does the 1977 classical Star Wars movie have anything to do with your Summer 2019, Robert?" Well, to answer that question, I have watched it three times since summer kicked off and for some reason, I keep getting drawn back into it like that piece of hair in your soda, but everytime you try to grab it, it falls deeper and deeper into your Sprite...I feel you. Thank you for reading episode two of the Blogosphere with Robert!
