Many people believe that God has called them to do something for His kingdom. They are very true. Everyone has a purpose, but sometimes it's hard to find yours. The problem, most of the time, isn't your past or how you're not qualified to do what He asked.
God always uses the broken and the flawed. He uses the imperfect to complete His perfect mission. He uses the broken to minister to the broken. He uses the imperfect to show His glory. Moses wasn't good with words. Moses himself said: "Oh, my Lord, I am not eloquent, either in the past or since you have spoken to your servant, but I am slow of speech and of tongue.” But God didn't care. He replied: "Who makes a person's mouth? Who decides whether people speak or do not speak, hear or do not hear, see or do not see? Is it not I, the LORD?"
Moses didn't think he was qualified to do such an important job, but God used him anyways. Many times we think that we can't be used because we aren't the son/daughter of a preacher or we've done too many bad things. There is not a soul so lost that God can't reach them. God loves to use the "underdogs" for His work.
I myself would have loved to seen the look on the face of the Pharisees when they saw the people He was using in the New Testament. Paul is another example. Before Paul was Paul, he was called Saul. Saul persecuted the early church. His life as Saul was marked by religious zeal, brutal violence, and the relentless persecution of the early church. Paul killed innocent people for what he believed was the "greater good." If God can make Saul turn into Paul, one of the most famous and influential apostle, imagine what He can do in us. If He can turn a murder into an apostle, what is He willing to do in our lives?
It doesn't matter where you come from, what you've done, and what qualities you have, God will use you if you're willing. Most of the time when we say we're not sure what He called us to do, it's because the line is closed. If your Bible is getting dusty and you haven't prayed in a while, how can God tell you His will for your life? He communicates through prayer and His word. If both of them are closed, how can He communicate? So, before you say "God doesn't have a plan for me, or he would have told me," make sure you have left an open line for Him to speak in your life.
kim this post spoke to me. id first like to point out what a phenomenal writer you are and that is certainly one of the talents our lord has bestowed upon you. I struggle everyday with not finding enough time for God which is ridiculous after all he has done and continues to do for me. I have strayed for years. my line has indeed been dead. I really liked that by the way. the lord called me while I was at super summer to missions and it was the most amazing sensation to know that the God who created the earth was telling me, the wandering, stubborn, troublesome daughter, that he had a huge plan for me doing work for him. it was incredible and you are extremely right, I had no clue until I got back into the word and talking to God again. I thank you so much for being such a fearless warrior for God, you are insanely inspiring in so many ways kim Wilson. -Sydney adams comment number 14 :)
ReplyDeleteWow, I couldn't agree more. I loved the line "If your Bible is getting dusty and you haven't prayed in a while, how can God tell you His will for your life?" The bible talks about how in the end of days the children of God will praise him, but not live for him. That scares me when I begin to think of all the so called "Christians" who can't find an hour out of their precious day to know God and speak with him, but at church they will sing along and play the game. The problem is they talk the talk, but when it comes down to it they don't walk the walk of the righteous. Harrison McCall #6
