Writer's block- Bethany Pace (13)

Writers block;
Aka hell on Earth for a writer or me..
Or the proper definition:
"The condition of being unable to think of what to write or how to proceed with writing"
It's like you put up a brick wall between your thoughts and your hands
Maybe a flower has sprouted and blocked your eyes and you can't see anything no matter how hard you look
Everything turns a dark grey and becomes dull and uninteresting
It's probably one of the hardest moments of my life
I love to write and express my internal feelings in a way that other people can understand
And relate to
And I hate written on a piece of paper
Documented how I felt that day and that time
And all of the reasons for it
Sometimes I want to write
But I don't know what to write about
Or how to write it
And I can seem to find the loose brick in the stack
Common causes of writers block are:
-timing: sometimes you should just wait until another time
-fear: sometimes you're afraid of being criticized for what you want to write
-perfectionism: everything you write has to be perfect, and you're too concerned with tiny things
I suffer from all of these things
And it's quite terrible
I search near, far, underneath the couch, down the corner, on the tv, in my music, within myself, and just everywhere for an idea
And more times than none
I don't succeed
I just have to sit
And calm myself
And think "what is going on that I can pull experience from?"
And then I can usually come up with an idea and writing and construct my writings
I never change anything I've written after I write it
the thinks I write come straight from the heart
it's the first thing I thought of
It something
And yes
I did just write an entire post about how I couldn't think of anything else to write about,
Mission accomplished

  1. I love this so much! You managed to write about writers block. I don't understand how you managed to pull that off, but you did! I completely understand. I, too, write my personal feelings and a lot of what I write is inspired by them. It makes me really mad when I can't think of ways to form my thoughts. I really loved how you described how you compared it to a flower sprouting infront of your eyes. That's really intriguing, but your writing is always intriguing. Please post more!! I always look forward to your posts. -Kim Wilson

  3. I love this SOOOOO much!!! I honestly can't believe how good of a writer you are. You decided that there wasn't anything to write about and was like "oh hey, I can't think of anything to write. It's called writers block so I'm going to write about that" Even when you don't have anything to write about, it's still good. I wish I had your amazing talent at being able to write about nothing and IT IS STILL GOOD!!! But anyways, I love you Bessie. You're such a talented human being. You should start teachig me how to write like this. -Angel Cash

  4. Bethany, I also love this blog!! I to was amazed that you just wrote a whole blog about not being able to write. I get blocked a lot when trying to come up with stuff for art and it drives me insane!! I'll look for hours sometimes just searching for an idea to make something. Being blocked from doing what you love is the worst feeling for me. But you took being blocked from writing and made an awesome blog!! I don't know how you do these things but clearly I need some tips!! You did a great job on this!! --Jo Baker-17

  5. Bethany, you are a really good writer. I really like this blog post. I don't see how you managed to write about writer's block, but you did a really good job writing about it. I don't think I could manage to accomplish that. It seems like it would be a hard topic to write about. I completely understand this. Writer's block is the worst thing ever. I love writing about how I feel but I always have a very difficult time finding the right words to say, and my thoughts get jumbled together. And then I just end up erase everything I wrote several times. -Ambria Curtis
