Summer Assignments (13) Chloe Reese

Summer assignments are given in most AP classes. You usually have to read a book, research information, or do an experiment. These have to be done to be in that class , and if you don't you can't. Most people may think that summer assignments are useless (stupid). I know I did when I first heard about them in eigth grade. I thought " why should we have to do work during the summer?" I also thought that since we do work all year we should be off the hook for summer. But, now that I Shevardnadze actually did a summer assignment I think differently. I realized that summer assignments keep me thinking all summer. They prepare me for the upcoming school year and class. They also show me some examples of what we will be doing in class. Last year when I didn't have this assignment, I forgot some of the things I learned. But, now I can refresh my memory before school starts. Summer assignments also show who wants or deserves to be in that class. This is because the students who don't care won't put forth the effort and sign up for the class. These students won't want to do summer assignments. This shows how much effort they may put forth when class actually starts. These assignments can be hard and challenging. So some may procrastinate (like me) getting the work in. But I think these assignments help the students be able to be prepared for the school work ahead. In the end no matter how stupid you think summer assignments are, they will always be worth the effort. They prepare you for the school year, help expand your knowledge, and and better classes equal better colleges. So, summer assignments no matter how challenging, are always better to do even though it may be during the summer.
