Zoe - Blog #2

Holidays have always been a big thing for my family, especially Halloween and Christmas. We celebrate Thanksgiving, but it's not a huge deal for us. We eat the same desserts (which of course there are always tons of), and usually have a turkey, deviled eggs, or mini pizzas with hamburger buns. Maybe sometimes we'll celebrate Easter with my aunt and her family, but none of us actually get excited about it. Let me explain how big of a thing holidays are for us- my mom has already been shopping for our Christmas presents and m siblings and I already have our costumes. Thanksgiving is a holiday we celebrate, but it isn't a big deal for us. We eat the same desserts (which of course there are always tons of), and usually have a turkey, deviled eggs, or mini pizzas with hamburger buns. Now let me tell you what we do for each holiday.

Halloween. My absolute favorite holiday, because who doesn't love free candy? I honestly get so excited for Halloween even a couple months in advance. When October finally rolls around, I get so eager and excited for the 31st. I always look forward to watching my favorite Halloween movies and snacking all night on chocolate and pixie sticks. After school, we all get ready in our costumes and then go to my grandparent's house and get special bags of candy my grandma made for us. Afterward, around 5:30 or 6, we leave to go trick-or-treating. It's a long and sometimes stressful when my brothers run off out of our sight. If we bought candy beforehand, then I will stay home and give out candy. Then, we'll go home and take a shower and get ready for school.

Christmas! The day after Halloween, I'm already in full Christmas spirit. So I wait for what feels like forever for Christmas Eve. We go to my aunt's house and we all have a family reunion/Christmas party. The first thing we do is stuff our faces with snack foods and deserts and then after everyone is done eating, we'll play Dirty Santa. It's always a laugh for all of us with that game, especially the first time we played it. None of us actually knew the rules then.

Anyways, the holidays are always a fun time for my family. Some of my favorite memories stem from holidays. They're full of laughter and sometimes even small quarrels between family members.
