So, as many of you know, the cheerleaders are competing this year. There was a practice last week but I missed dude to the mission work I talked about a couple of days ago. Today being my first competitive cheer practice, today was hard. We did the regular cheer stuff. Stretched, did jumps, the regular. Then we started to work on tumbling. Just to clarify for the ones who don’t know, tumbling is basically just flipping. Anyways, we worked on back handsprings. A back handsprings are very similar to a back flip. If anyone in the basketball game stands noticed, our cheerleading squad as a whole isn’t very good at tumbling. We’re getting there, though! Some of our girls this year can throw their back handsprings after only one tumbling class. I hope good things come of this year’s squad. None of y’all really think cheerleading is a sport. To be honest, it may not be. The cheerleading that we have done in the past, I would not call a sport. Now that we are competing this year, that kinda automatically makes it a sport. According to Google, the definition of a sport is an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or a team competes against another or others for entertainment. I think we finally meet the requirements to be called a sport. Anyways, cheerleading might be dangerous but I enjoy cheering for our basketball team. It’s a really cool feeling to be able to see exactly what the basketball players and referees see during the basketball game. I will have to admit, though. It get so scary sometimes. You hear all of the talking, cussing, and stuff the boys and girls say when they’re in the game. It’s quite hilarious. Another scary part is when the ball, or worse, the player comes running at you full speed. I swear my life flashes before my eyes every time. The best part of it all, though, probably getting to see the faces of the players when one of these three things happen; they make a basket, they miss a basket, or a “wrong” play was confirmed. Okay, I met the word count and I’m tired. Goodnight.

I really liked competition cheer when I did it. The practices were very hard, I agree. I didn’t do it through my school though, but it’s all the same really. And I definitely agree that cheer is a sport. Throwing people in the air is not easy, and being the person thrown in the air is difficult as well. I had to be the flyer for my first two years of competition, and it was really scary having to rely on people to catch you. I liked being a base way better, except when I got kicked in the face. That hurt.
