Blogosphere: Episode 5- Robert Long

Welcome back to another episode of the Blogosphere with Robert! The last episode was a bit personally and lacked my normal sense of humor. For that, I want to make up for it by telling you guys a little story. Hopefully, you enjoy and I can regain my laughter between us.
This story takes place on a Friday, June 14th to be exact. My cousin Christian had come to Lake City stay the weekend with his dad (my uncle) and had planned a big camping trip. He asked me to come with them and, of course, I accepted. Now, keep in mind, this was only like the second time I've been officially "camping" out in the wilderness, so I wasn't too sure what all I needed.
As I mentioned before, we left on Friday, returning on Monday of the next week. Our location of choice was Lake Charles State Park in Powhatan. I'd never been there before, nor had I even heard of it's existence, but I digress. We used this camping trip as a "bonding experience," if you will, whilst enjoying some of the beauty this state holds. It truly was refreshing to get out of the house for a few days, too.
During our camping trip, we did the basic things any camper would do. Most of our time was absorbed by fishing and talking, followed by cooking what we'd caught. It felt good living off the land like our primal ancestors before us had. It takes you back to a simpler time; before text messages and YouTube videos kept us up all night. Before screaming at one another and arguing over the TV remote. The sounds you hear out in a tree-filled forest are quite relaxing compared to what you hear down the street or in another room. Some would consider camping outside boring or a waste of time, but I felt so much better coming home, knowing that there was a place I could still go to get away from all the headaches and just relax.
I know this episode wasn't as interesting or comedic as I had planned, but at the very least, I hope I've possibly inspired some of you to enjoy the great outdoors try something besides sitting on your bed watching ghost story videos or those videos of the little African boys building villas out of clay. Thanks for reading!
