This is blog post number 10. This is part two of two about Girls Church Camp. We left off with attending lunch. After lunch we had bible study which is where they do a lesson but they also use volunteers to act it out. After bible study was drama practice and that is where a few leaders and campers come up with a miniature skit and perform it in front of the rest of the camp on Thursday night. After our drama practice we had recreation time again which was swimming, crafts, and game room time. Next we had supper for the night and by this time it was about 5:30pm. After supper we came back up to the sanctuary and had missions for about an hour. Then we had swimming, crafts, and game room time again. I think the next thing we did was a lot of the campers favorites. It was called snacks and shenanigans which is where we have a small area full of snacks which you can purchase and then we have patio time where we go inside and do songs, dancing, and activities for the night. We actually have a snack shack about 3 times throughout the day. Lastly we go up to bed and get everyone showers and get ready to turn the lights out at 10:30pm. This was our schedule for half of Monday, all day Tuesday and Wednesday, and then half of Thursday. On Thursday around 2:00pm we had what we call banquet night around 5:30pm. This is where all the girls wear dresses and get their hair and makeup done for a fancy dinner. I and some other counselors helped do hair and makeup for the girls. After our banquet we had our drama show and then late night swimming. The campers went up to bed after the swim and patio time and the counselors had what we call snacks giving. We stayed up really late and ate a bunch of snacks and ended up singing and dancing and sleeping in the sanctuary. The next morning we all packed up and headed back home.

Church Camp--Part 1--Ashton Timms
My blog post number 9. This is going to be a series of two blog posts. This is one out of two. This past week I have had the privilege of being a counselor at a Girls Church Camp at the Mount Zion Camp. I had two girls who came with my church from Caraway and then I had two campers who did not have a leader or any other members of their church attend with them. We left out Monday afternoon a little earlier than 2:00pm and it was about an hour and fifteen minute drive from Caraway. We arrived around 3:10pm. The doors opened at 3:30pm and we went ahead and started unloading our suitcases and getting our stuff outside of the church van. Once the doors opened me and my campers signed in and got put on a side and made our beds. The fun automatically starts after you arrive. After everyone was unpacked the campers all went down to the pool and started swimming and practicing for their swim test in the shallow end. After they were done swimming they all met downstairs for supper time. They ate supper and then went upstairs for missions which is where someone comes in and talks about missionaries and mission trips to the girls. After that we had another recreation time where you could go swimming, play in the game room, or make crafts. Camp is so much fun and the schedule basically goes like this: you wake up at 8:00am and then have breakfast, after breakfast you have what they call morning jam which is where you dance and stretch to get ready for the day. After that we have what we call Secret Secrets and it is where you take your bible and you get a slip of paper with a verse to read and you find a quiet spot and go and ready your bible until the whistle blows. After that we had planned activities. Some days it was a craft or a game. Next we have moments with the master. This year we had speakers come in and give the lesson. After moments with the master we had lunch for the day.
Vacation Part 8--Ashton Timms
This is the last blog of my Family vacation part eight out of eight. After driving for 11 hours and 30 minutes straight at night we finally made it to Branson, Missouri. Before arriving in Branson we looked all over that night for a hotel but everyone was booked solid and rooms that were normally around $100-$150 were up too $400-500 a night. My dad ended up driving most of the night while we slept. We finally stopped at a breakfast buffet place before heading to the Branson strip. We ate a good breakfast and went to the Dolly Parton Stampede and got tickets for a show that night. After a few more hours of searching we finally found a hotel on the strip. We checked in and my dad caught up on some sleep while me, my mom, and sister chilled by the pool and swam for a few hours. We then got ready for the show and I’m not sure if you’ve ever been to the show but it’s a dinner show. Therefore we had a meal there. The meal included soup, biscuits, corn on the cob, chicken breast, potato wedge, pork loin, and an apple turnover for dessert. The show is all about horses and you have two sides. You either sit in the north or the south and you compete for these flags and metals. You have horse riders that represent each side. There are trick riders, barrel racers, chicken chase, a pig race, and comedy acts. After our show we headed back to the hotel. We walked around up and down the strip and enjoyed the lights and honestly we enjoyed the familiar scenery. As much as we love traveling all over the US it always feels good to end the trip somewhere we are familiar with. We woke up the next morning and headed home and made it back around 4:00pm. These last eight blogs summarized my Family Vacation for this summer in June. After arriving home we unpacked and went and visited our family that we hadn’t seen in a week and three days. But most of all we were happy to have our beds back.
Vacation Part 7--Ashton TImms
We are now on part seven out of eight on my family vacation blog post. We just entered the Garden of the Gods in Colorado. We took a little bus about 15 minutes into the park. We walked the loops around the rocks. We saw lots of rock climbers and even talked to a couple. The rocks were incredibly tall and the climbers looked like tiny specks compared to the rocks. We even saw a 11 year old little girl climbing with her dad. We took lots of pictures and just kind of explored around for a few hours. We then headed off to Pikes Peak which was about an hour drive from the Garden of Gods. After making it to the entryway of pikes peak we drove about 10 minutes and I started getting severely light headed. I started blacking out really bad and we thought I was going to pass out. We found a pull off and ended up having to turn around before even making it ⅓ of the way to the top of the mountain. We turned around and headed back down the mountain. We stopped at the North Pole attraction they have. It was like a little old fashioned amusement park. It had probably 15 kiddy rides and cute structures. We walked around and took some pictures but we didn’t really have time to ride any rides. They had lots of cool nutcrackers and Christmas ornament shops. It was like Christmas in June instead of July. I was sunburnt so bad and it was kinda chilly I actually ended up wearing a thin sweatshirt around the park. After leaving the park we drove around downtown Colorado Springs to find a souvenir shop. Me and my little sister both try to get magnets from every place we travel and put them on our white boards. We finally found a shop and found sweatshirts and magnets. After leaving Colorado Springs we started driving towards home. We decided to not come home through Oklahoma because we don’t enjoy the scenery there. So we took a bit of a longer route home to stop at one of our favorite places.

Friendships are overrated part 2- Zoey McGowan- 9/11
Alright let’s move onto high school. Yikes is all I have to say. It was bad enough transitioning to new grades every year but seventh grade was a whole other story. From the combining of two schools and to moving to a whole new building. I’ve always had anxiety but when you better believe me when I say it was at its peak. In seventh grade I was clinging to a friendship that already ended. I was in the background of these people who I would call close friends. They had moved on from what we had to something new and shiny. Kind of like buying a brand new car, you get it and soon forget to think about the one before. Not to mention that we were basically only friends with people we had classes with. I mean I get that those are people who you spend the most time with, but now that I look I realize just because you spent a lot of time with them doesn’t mean they were actually good friends. You just spent time with them because there was nobody else around. Now tell me this, when summer rolled around who actually kept contact with you. I don’t mean texted you to see what classes you had together, but did that actually want to spend that time with you. Of course people have plans, it’s summer and we are out of school. But think about all the times you knew people were at home posting about how bored they are, when you're sitting there alone and they have already turned you down. You see it’s okay to them when they turn your plans down but as soon as you do it to them you're automatically labeled as the bad guy. No matter what we do we never do the right things. This brings me to think of seventh grade as the peak of drama. Honestly I can’t tell you a thing about what was going on in seventh grade, but I can tell you someone was always mad at another person. All of this really just makes me wonder. How long until the friendship just ends? I know you shouldn’t think of things like this but, think about it. These people you use to tell all of your secrets to are now just strangers who don’t even glance in your direction. But you can’t just erase that history, but sometimes it feels like it’s never even happened. Also may I add the fact of thinking about your parents. How many of the “friends” they had in high school do they talk to now? People grow apart, it’s the normal thing. But it still hurts. Anyway this has been me ranting, again.
Friendships are overrated part 1- Zoey McGowan- 8/11
Here’s the thing, friendships at some points come to an end. I and many others can testify the truth of this. This is in one way me calling anyone out, but I think it’s an interesting topic to talk about. So let’s start from the beginning. When we were younger the one thing we were told not to do was talk to strangers. Back then it made sense, but now that I realize that’s what we all were into each other. As kids we see it differently, for obvious reasons. It used to be so easy to walk up to someone on the playground and just become instant friends. You would play with them everyday, because back then it didn’t matter what they looked like or who they were. We were all just kids trying to have fun. But eventually we had to grow up to that weird transitioning phase of life. By this point everyone has their labels. You all know we started labeling people even in middle school. It was beginning to turn into more of a competition than actually anything real. I mean it’s such a weird time, trying to figure out who we are while also juggling the fact that we didn’t know if a certain person was going to talk to us the next day or not. I mean by sixth grade everyone was switching friends so much it was hard to tell who liked who. Not to mention the fact that those stupid labels always came back to bit you in the butt. By the time I was in third grade I felt like my only personality trait was that I like reading books. You could ask anyone there someone about me and one of the first things would be “she liked to read”. They weren’t wrong but sometimes I felt bad by just being that girl. I remember we had to do this project once were you would write something nice about each of your classmates and at the end of the year out teacher would hand us a piece of paper with our name in the middle and everything people said about us on the outside. I bet you can guess what was on mine. Bonus points if you called it from the beginning. But this blog is not about me being labeled a bookworm, it’s just the labels in general. By seventh grade I felt abandoned. It was like every year people would get close over the summer. I would know someone in the very beginning and by the next school year they were a completely different person and I was still just the same. I am way above the word limit so I’ll be splitting it up into two parts. :)
Vacation Part 6--Ashton Timms
This is part six out of eight on my family vacation blog. I left for Salt Lake City, Utah in a hotel room. We woke up early the next morning and went back to the UP house. We parked a street away and walked to the sidewalk in front of the house. We took a few pictures and hopped back in the car. From there we headed to the actual Salt Lake park in Salt Lake City. We arrived at the park around 11:00am. To me it looked like a beach but the sand was salt. It was thick and muddy looking but sparkly. There were signs everywhere saying that mainly only brine shrimp are able to survive in the salty water of the lake. There were little puddles everywhere and if you got up really really close you could see the tiny brine shrimp. They look a lot like sea monkeys. About 10 foot from the water was a pile of salt and there were a few piles on the shore but a good distance from each other. They were literally big huge chunks of piled up salt and it was super hard to the touch. The lake was cold and smelled really bad. We walked around and looked at the shrimp, salt, and seagulls before getting in the car and taking off. In some parts of Colorado and Utah it was 30-40 degrees and in Texas and other places it was 110 degrees. After leaving Salt Lake City we headed back to Colorado but this time to Colorado Springs. We got a room and woke up early that next morning and headed too Garden of the Gods. Basically what that is would be really big rock formations of unique colors. Upon arriving we went inside the visitors center and gift shop. As you walked in there was lots of taxidermy of the animals that live in and around the formations. There was a 3D map of all of the rocks and a restaurant downstairs. We looked around and then got a game plan of what we were going to do and see in the park.
Vacation Part 5-Ashton Timms
This is blog part five out of eight of my Family Vacation. I left off talking about Silverton, Colorado and how we met a lady who was a pilot. I want to skip forward a little bit and move on after we left Silverton. As a little girl I always loved Disney movies. Well of course like most other kids I watched High School Musical. So we left Silverton, Colorado and headed off to Salt Lake City, Utah to see East High. After arriving in Utah we stopped and ate at a Cracker Barrel for lunch. We then found the school. Seeing the school in person was so unreal. To think that it’s just a school like Riverside that was selected and is now famous but to the kids that attend it’s just average. Due to COVID we couldn’t go inside the school. Actually this was on June 9th around 8:34pm and they had school that morning. We took pictures around the entrance and before arrival we called the school and they said we could tour anything outside of the building so we walked around and even peeked inside a few windows. The school still has the iconic Sharpay's pink locker inside as well. We left the school and went to a house based on the movie UP. This house is actually a person's home and they don’t offer tours but they do offer photo shoots inside and outside. Apparently the inside is decorated the same as in the animated movie. It was dark at night so we just drove in front of the house before getting a hotel. We made plans to drive back by in the morning and snap a couple pictures of the outside. We struggled to find hotels often because due to covid and shortage of workers only certain rooms were available and my family is very picky about hotels we stay in. We finally found a hotel about 25 minutes from the UP house so we booked a room and went up and enjoyed the view of the city lights from the window.
Vacation part 4--Ashton Timms
This is part four out of eight on my family vacation blogs. So we arrived at Silverton late afternoon and got a hotel room at one of the 3 hotels there. We stayed on the second floor. It was all stairs. Absolutely nothing modernized, not even plug-ins but 2 in each room for the lamps. The lady at the front desk even told us she goes home around 9:00pm and no one takes her place, that the crime rate is so low, they just leave the doors unlocked everywhere at night, and leave a note with a number on it in case you need something for your room. We actually were at such high elevation we were light headed and our noses were bleeding. They said it takes about 6 months to adjust to the elevation if you were to move there. The buildings were about 10 feet apart. There were 2 coffee shops, 3 hotels, 1 first responder police/fire/ambulance building in one, there was about 4 restaurants, 11 gift shops, and just little things here and there. My family did a stagecoach ride that next morning and it was so safe there that the driver had a tin tied to a post with about $500 or so inside and he just left it there not supervised while he rode people around and no one messed with it. The houses there were like tiny houses with no land but cost $400,00 to own. There was a small cemetery up on the hill a little bit with about 35 graves from people who passed away there. My father loved it there and it reminded him of when he was little. There was an old arcade and a little mining area. About an hour from Silverton there were mine cart tours and even real mining going on around the area. It was probably the most chilly day we had on our vacation. We even met a lady with an incredible story. She was traveling alone and we thought that was super brave of her so we asked her if she travels often. She explained that she was a pilot when she was younger and she had a plane accident. She flew a commercial plane (which is like a one or two person plane) and her engine started going out so she got on the intercom and said she needed emergency landing. The next landing area was too far for her to make it so they planned for her to land in a field. However she couldn’t make it to the field so she had to land on the highway in Atlanta,Georgia. She landed in the middle of traffic but sadly she hit one car and it flipped and blew up killing the driver inside. However incredibly she survived. She had 3rd degree burns all over her body and she said the door to the plane was so hot she felt it burning her to get out but if she wouldn’t have pushed through the pain she would have burned up alive.

Vacation Part 3- Ashton Timms
This is now blog part three out of eight on my family vacation in June. So here we are stuck at the gas station. My mom hurried inside and asked a lady if there was anything they had in the station that maybe could help get our car unlocked. Luckily this gas station was a Loves and had workers who work on big trucks when needed. A nice worker man had a kit to try and open up doors. He took what looked like a blood pressure cuff and wedged it between the door and pumped it up which then made enough of a gap for him to stick a clothes hanger into the door and hit the unlock button. Thankfully that worked and we were able to get into our car. We then continued our journey to New Mexico. We arrived at White Sands National Park in New Mexico at 6:15pm. We explored the sands and took lots of pictures on my Canon camera. We even went and bought a swimming pool from the dollar store and slid down the sand dunes (it did not go completely as planned). After that failed we just rolled them down. Needless to say we had to wipe off a bunch of sand before getting back in the car. After that we drove for a while in the direction of Silverton, Colorado. It was a super long drive. We ended up staying in a hotel a little over half way there and sleeping in until about 9:00am the next morning. We then continued the drive to Silverton. We first stopped at Durango, Colorado but didn’t see a lot we wanted to do so we drove the 30 minutes down the road to Silverton. I am not a fan of heights, especially snowy mountains. When we got to Silverton it was a little old western town. Nothing modernized. It was about ¾ the size of Lake City, maybe even a bit smaller. Buildings side by side everything within walking distance. The closest grocery store in Durango and they had to stock up for months due to the fact they will get 6-8feet of snow on the roads. In the middle of a snowy Colorado mountain.
Vacation Part 2-Ashton Timms
This is the second blog post out of eight about my family's vacation in June. We ended the last post about stopping to get a hotel in Houston, Texas. I will now pick up where I left off. That next morning we left Houston and headed to San Antonio. It was about a 4 hour and 30 minute drive with traffic and bathroom breaks. When we arrived in San Antonio we first stopped to grab a bite to eat. We found a unique BBQ restaurant. The front was decorated with old gas pumps, soda machines, oil machines, etc. the inside was like a cafeteria style buffet or you could order your own food. After we left there we went to visit an Aunt I have that lives there. We spent about 6 hours at her house catching up and then we headed out for the famous River Walk. We ended up making a slight detour and went to a soldier cemetery where each and every grave was the same. We went to see my uncle's grave. We then continued onto the river and rode a boat through the middle. My family walked around for a bit and then decided to call it a night. We got a really nice hotel with a good view and grabbed some supper and headed up for bed. When we woke up the next morning we headed out for New Mexico. I’m not sure if any of you guys have ever been out that way but it is a lot of driving in the middle of nowhere with no cell service and gas stations only every couple of hours. We found a gas station and stopped for a break, well in the process the keys got locked inside of the van and the closest locksmith was 4 hours away. This of course sent my whole family into a panic because there we were in the middle of nowhere without any way to get inside of our car and we were on a deadline. I am going to stop here in part 2 and continue in part 3.
Vacation Part 1-Ashton Timms
This blog post is part one of eight . These parts are all from the vacation my family took in the first two weeks of June. The exact dates were June 4th-June13th. We started off the trip by traveling to Gulf Port, Mississippi. We had a long night of driving and arrived by about 5am. Our travel route was altered due to the Memphis bridge being closed down at the time so we went through Missouri. Me, my mom, and my dad all took turns driving while the other one slept. After arriving in GulfPort we parked at a local beach where people sleep in their cars. We had reservations at 8am that morning so we didn’t see any sense in trying to find a hotel for 3 hours of sleep. Me, my sister, and my mother actually only slept until about 6am. We then got up and walked up and down the beach and watched the sunrise. Around almost 7:45 we started driving to this place called the Institute for Marine Mammal studies. It was basically like a mini sea world without the rides. We swam with dolphins and snorkeling with stingrays and sharks. We even kissed sea lions! We watched lots of shows and explored the park. Around 4:00pm we got in the car and started driving to Orange, Texas. Once arriving in Orange, Texas we got a hotel room. The next morning we had booked a swamp tour at 10:00am on the Texas, Louisiana border. We saw lots of gators, eagles, and cranes up close and personal. After the tour we went and ate at a Mexican restaurant that had this burrito challenge. If you could eat a 50lb burrito in 30 minutes with only 2 people then your meal was free. My family didn’t take on the challenge but we got to witness another family try. They sadly only ate about half in the time frame but it was still impressive! After being in Orange, Texas we headed up to Houston, Texas. We ate at a French cafe called La Madeliné and tried lots of unique tarts and treats. We met with a cousin while we were there that I have never met before and that was lots of fun. Around 7:00pm we headed out of Houston and towards San Antonio. However we actually only made it about 30 minutes out of Houston because it started raining and it flooded so bad my family was stuck in traffic for 3 hours and the water was up to the bottom of our door frames in a Chrysler minivan. Then we got a hotel and rested until we woke up for the next adventure.

birthday- emily fitzgerald 7/11
Hey everyone, as you can tell by reading the heading, it's my birthday today! So far my birthday weekend has been pretty great and I'm not complaining at all because of it. On Friday night, I had a friend's party, and then on Saturday, I had a family party. Growing can be difficult at times, to be honest, and I think that it's great that I'm finally realizing that. I turned 17 today, and it scares me so much already that I'll be 18 on this exact date next year. Just being honest, there are times where I don't wanna grow up but then again there are times where I do want to grow up if that makes sense. I'm ready to see what my future will be like next year and I'm ready for all of the very many obstacles that are going with growing up. I'm ready to see what college I finally decide on, I'm ready to see if I'm going out of the state, I'm so ready to be older in all.
At the times where I don't want to grow up, I'll remember all of the amazing memories that I've already created within my 17 years. I want to go back and change some of the choices I've made, but I can't and that's okay because I have my future ahead of me. In life we cannot live in our thoughts, and I honestly need to work on living within my thoughts. I make many choices in life based on what I think would be better or what would make me happier, and I no longer need to do that because that is not right at all. I need to put others before my life and my choices you know, do something that would make others happy and not only myself happy. This year, we're all growing up. We're all about to be juniors which are pretty huge if I do say so me. So we all be to start looking at our futures and not living within the past, this will not only make us happy but it will also make others happy as well.

Creative Curse- 7/11- Zoey McGowan
Today’s topic is something I have been struggling with lately. But let’s start from the beginning. All my life I’ve loved the arts everything from paintings to books even to theater (but only back stages, my anxiety likes it that way). When I was younger I would speed through books and just absorb every page. Don’t get me wrong I do that know but not as often. I picked up hobbies a lot like knitting, sewing, embroidery, painting, writing, and all that good stuff. For most of my life, I was a drawer. I have markers, upon markers. It was something I had always loved to do. But the thing was I could never think of what to draw on my own. I would spend hours going through Pinterest just finding things I wanted to paint. I could never sit down and just draw from my mind. Don’t get me started on my mind. It’s like a roller coaster on drugs. I know that’s not possible but in my mind it is. Okay back to the original plot of this whole story. I could sit down for hours and the page would still be blank. Eventually my patients wore out. I stopped drawing. Due to not having a clue what to do without help with the not being able to love what I did create. I struggled and still due with not using my full potential. I’m not really sure what that potential is just yet but I just want to get there. But it doesn’t just stop with drawing or painting. I’ve found a new love these past couple years. Writing, I've always loved books especially fantasy it was an escape from all the craziness. I felt like I wanted to do that for myself. It’s different being lost in a book and being lost in something that you have complete control over. Anything can happen and I think that’s what scares me the most. Not know where to take it. I’ve read plenty of books I love and a part of me is jealous. I know these are published authors but just seeing them live my dream hurts me. To not be able to put what I want to see in my own words. A lot of the time I try to keep things in, I find it better that way. I know it’s not the same and it’s taken these people years but it’s just hard. Not knowing how to do something that means a lot to you, just feels weird. I’ve always heard that you needed to write what you want, but I don’t know what I want. All I know is that I want something and I don’t know how to get it. Anyways enjoyed my creative crisis.

the more you realize-6/11 by emily fitzgerald
Life changes all the time, and you have to realize the big and the little things. Sometimes I wonder in life why certain things happen, but I soon realize that life just goes on with or without you. things. Sometimes I wonder in life why certain things happen, but I soon realize that life just goes on with or without you. Every day is a new thing so live life to the absolute fullest and appreciate the small things. I wonder sometimes why I feel the way I do about life. but as humans, we have these emotions that we can't seem to put into words. We're all growing up and realizing that in life you have to make choices that aren't good at times just to make yourself happier, but that's what you have to do at times. I tend to put the emotions I feel into songs, which is a good stress reliever at times btw. In life, people come and go all the time but it's important also to find our special people in life. As teenagers, our emotions are all over the place and sometimes we are so confused about what we truly feel inside. We all go through our battles, which again at times it's not always bad to go through these because they make us grow as people. We all grow up differently and we all realize that sometimes it's good to be different and to stand out on your own. We don't have to explain to people what we feel in life, which is sometimes so amazing, I want everyone who is reading this to realize all the small things & that your emotions are valid. Thank you for reading!:)

11/11 -Jaden Reese - Summer time
This is the last one I have to do and I think that it should be about how my summer is going and how it went because well we are getting to the end of summer break and why not. So my summer started out as just watching movies everyday because I didn’t really have anything to do but watch the dogs because one of them can’t be left alone all day and that went well for a couple of weeks then it was on to hanging out with my sister and her telling all the tea that goes on at her work and me meeting one of her friends that is from work and she was really nice. Then I had to do these and put them up at the last minute because I just wasn’t really sure what to write about but then found it while going through some problems and that's always fun to do. Some fun parts about summer was that me and my sister got roller skates, well she got roller skates and I got roller blades and we are gonna try to do that and I know we are going to completely fail and then just laugh about it because that's what we always do and it's fun. Today was a funny day because we went to Bay because we have family that live there then we went to Truman and got McDonald's and me and my sister were laughing so hard in the back while my mom was driving that we could not breath and our faces turned so red because we just kept adding on things that were funny. Then we got to the house and she started to run to the house because she knew I was going to chase her and we ran into the house laughing and then we started being mean to each other then busted out laughing because that's what we do and it was just overall a stressful/fun day to say the least. I am hoping that the rest of the year goes by good and that I have more fun days rather than stressful ones.
9/11 -Jaden Reese -Music
Okay just to start it out I do not listen to what people call hard rock, yes it is loud and the words are more or less weirder than most but it doesn’t make it hard rock. I listen to what is known as alt music which is alternative rock and it consists of commercial rock or pop music so it's not all rock. I grew up listening to this music because of my mom and she would play it all the time and when I hated it as a kid and listened to more country because that's what I listened to when I was with my dad, but over the years I have grown to love the music my mom plays and the concerts we go to are just so much fun and amazing. I am about to name some bands that I love and I feel sad if you don’t know them because they are really good in my eyes. Now some people I know don’t like my music taste and that's okay because I don’t always like theirs. So the bands are Nirvana, Linkin Park, Shinedown, Smith & Myers, Judah and the lions, Incubus, Disturbed, and many more. Though I have been to other concerts that were not just one band and an opening band that was performing but to some that have about 5 bands playing at once in different places so you can go and see the ones you want and then they have food trucks which is always the best food. I do not just listen to alternative music I do listen to country and 2000s hits because man they are the best. I don’t really know what it is about the early 2000s music but its just so fun to listen to it when you are around the house not doing anything and singing with the music because you know every lyric. I do not know about you but I would love to hear some song recommendations because like I said I don’t listen to one specific thing I listen to a lot of different music from songs that are literally screaming to sad slow songs.
10/11 -Jaden Reese - Netflix
This one is about Netflix because that has really been my whole summer and I'm not kidding. I feel like I have watched everything on there but I know that I have only been watching like three shows that have a lot of sessions, but then again YouTube has also been a part of my life because of the people I watch and how intense their life is but that's another story for another time. Getting back to the topic of Netflix the main shows I have been watching is Supernatural, NCIS, and Scooby-doo and I know y'all are thinking people my age shouldn’t be watching little kids movies but I can tell you that Scooby-doo will always be apart of my life because I was raised up on it and I will continue to grow up with it. If you can’t tell my favorite type of movies/ shows are kinda weirder than most, I like crime shows, shows about the supernatural and of course I have to add in the kids movies because there's just some that I will never outgrow because as I grow older there are new meaning behind some things they say in kids movies that only older people will get and I think that's kinda funny how they directors incorporate it into the movie or film or cartoon. It is very hard for me to pick movies or shows out because I have trouble making decision on whether I would like it or not because I will watch about thirty minutes into the episode or movie before I turn it because if it didn’t get my attention with the first thirty minutes then I won’t watch the movie or show. So I am kinda in need of new shows and movies to watch because I watch the same thing over and over again and though it never gets boring because there is always something new I find when I watch it. I would like to watch other things because in all honesty there are tons of movies and shows out there that I have not heard of or seen and would like to broaden my search in movies
8/11 -Jaden Reese - Story number three
I know I said there was only going to be two but I made one I could not just let go to waste so here is another story called The Park. The title may not go with the story but that is all I could come up with. The story is about a group of girls that will learn their lesson to be careful who they talk to because it may turn out different then what they think.
One day a girl named Morgan went to the park with her friends and they hung out all night. That night she and her friends were talking on the phone with random people and were making half of them mad because they were prank calling them. That night was a night they would never forget. When the sun went down everyone was on their way home, Then they all heard a phone ring. They looked to see if it was their phone but it wasn’t. They looked everywhere to find the phone that was ringing. And it would not stop, but then all of a sudden the phone stopped. They all heard a voice that came out of nowhere. The voice kept talking about how there was something going down tonight, at the park. The group of friends all looked at each other and were like we should stay to see what happens, so they all agreed. So they waited and waited until they heard the phone ring again, So they went searching for it and they found the phone. The phone had a weird look to it. It was all black, But the back had all of the friends' initials on it. They all looked at each other and answered the phone. They could only hear the voice of the stranger from before, But this time it was speaking to them directly. It said that they should not have called the numbers they did because their location was now taken. This didn’t make sense to the girls until Morgan realized that the guy on the phone was actually her older brother, scaring them because he overheard them on the phone with strangers earlier and wanted to make sure they didn’t do it again and that is the end of this story folks.
7/11 -Jaden Reese -Rush Gates house
In this blog I will be talking to you about the Rush Gates House and the story behind it. On a corner lot along Front Street in Forrest City stands a lovely older blue-gray home, overlooking the nearby railroad tracks that once played a significant part in the town's economy. In 1906, the structure was built as the home of Dr. J.O. Rush and his family. The choice of the location of the house was a strategic decision by Rush, who served as a physician and surgeon for the railroads and felt it would be sensible to build the home near the tracks. Day and night, the home was filled with the maimed and injured, especially those involved in railroading accidents. In the decades to come, many would claim seeing strange movement through the darkened windows. Some local residents claimed that those who were brought to Dr. Rush's office for medical attention haunted the house. After Dr. Rush's death in 1961, the house stayed in the family until 1995. Over the years, Arkansas urban legends about the house continued to grow, as stories of weird occurrences and shadowy figures in the windows continued to flourish. The next thing I will be talking about is The St. Francis County Museum and how it now offers A Night at the Museum program at various times throughout the year, including Halloween. Guests come to the museum and spend several hours inside the house alongside members of the paranormal investigative team. The event starts with a history of the Rush-Gates House and museum staff share stories of strange occurrences they've experienced. Tour participants hear a series of electronic voice phenomena that were previously recorded in the house and, following a quick overview of the equipment that will be used, the visitors watch and participate as team members collect data. Before the guests leave, the investigation team scans the audio recordings that were made throughout the evening and allow participants to hear any easily recognized vocal recordings (not requiring computer enhancement) that were captured. Now I am not sure that it is still a house, I think they have made it into a hotel where you can stay at your own risk but it was pretty cool to learn about this.
6/11 -Jaden Reese -Second Story
Okay so this story is a little bit longer than the one before and I'm sorry for that but I thought you should read the whole thing so you can get the whole effect of how the story goes.
One beautiful day there was a house that was like no other house. It was shaped differently and a different color every day. That day a girl named Jean moved into the house down the street from it. Everyday she would ride her bike to school and would pass it. It made her nervous to be around it. Since it made her nervous she tried to avoid it, so she went the long way back and forth from her house and the school. One day she went the long way and there were people working on the road near the house she was afraid of. Then she got closer and saw that they were not fixing the road that they were putting up caution tape. She went up to one of the people that was on the road and asked “what is going on!” the man said “There had be a murder here!” The girl was terrified so she went home but it was later that night so she told her mom in the morning, Her mom said “she has to hurry to school, you will be late!” The girl begged her mom not to go, But sadly she had to go. She passed the house and hurried past it. When she got there a new girl was there. Jean went up to the girl and said “hello.” The girl and Jean became friends. One day the girl asked if Jean could spin the night with her. Jean's mom said yes, so after school they walked to the girls house. Jean noticed that the girl lived on her street, but she had never seen the girl before. She thought it was odd. When they got to her house Jean Gasped, She saw the old house that she was trying to avoid. It seems that the girl lives in the house. Jean tried so hard not to cry, the girl asked what was wrong Jean said it's nothing even knowing it was something. They went inside and went to the girls bedroom. They hung out for a while,Then Jean asked about the house being a different color every day. The girl said “Her grandma has this condition that she has to paint something every night.”Jean said “oh okay” The girl said “why do you ask.”Jean said “I pass this house everyday and it is always a different color, I thought it was haunted.” The girl then went over to her bed and bent down to get something from under the bed. The girl pulled out a big old box. She sat the box on the bed, so Jean went over there to see what was in the box. There were a bunch of newspapers in the box. The girl pulled out the newspapers and sat them on her bed. Jean looked through them and she saw that on every single one of them it said murder on it. Jean read closer and it says that the last one was yesterday, then Jean gasped. The girl asked what it was and Jean said “I saw people putting up caution tape yesterday.” The girl looked at Jean and said “were you there to see the body?” Jean said “Yes I saw the Body, why.” The girl then began to cry. Jean asked what was wrong and the girl said “You're going to die tonight!” Jean said “What do you mean I’m going to die tonight.” The girl said “If you see a body and then come into this house you will not leave this house unless you are carried out by a body bag..” The reason you will only leave in a body bag is because if you have seen a dead body the house turns that against you because the house is haunted. Jean then started crying. So that night Jean was going downstairs with the girl then all of a sudden Jean was locked in a room that had something in the corner of it. She went to look at what was in the corner, she then couldn’t move because there was something there. Then the thing came out of the corner and it was a ghost. The ghost said that she will make a deal with you. Jean was scared but said okay anyways. The ghost said the only way you will live is if you do a favor and Jean was not sure about this but then said okay. The ghost said that the deal is that if Jean lives then the ghost gets to live in her body till she dies. Jean was unhappy with this and said no way to this request. Because the ghost was so eager to get out the house and could not without being with someone living the ghost said you already made the deal. So that day forward the ghost remained in her body until she died, Then when Jean died the ghost went back to the house and started over on her journey.
5/11 -Jaden Reese - First Story
Hey I'm having some trouble coming up with something to write about so I thought I would share one or two of the stories I wrote a couple years ago When I had nothing to do in some classes. Now this blog may be about one of the stories and another one may be about the other, so here it goes and please tell me how I could possibly make them better. The name of the first one that I will be sharing is Scare. It's about a school and a crazy incident that has since then changed everyone who walks into it.
It was a dark and stormy night, the wind blew hard on the people’s faces, making it hard for everyone to see where they were going. While they were walking they saw what seemed like a group of people just standing around a tree in front of the school, not knowing what they were doing they went to investigate, But what they found will scare you. Meg is a girl that no one knows because she was a very shy and quiet girl and never really talked to anyone, but she liked it that way. She goes to a school that was named after an accident that happened 30 years ago. The name of the school was Bradford high school but because of the incidents that occurred everyone called it Baby cries High. I know what you're thinking. Is it haunted? Are there creepy people that go there? What really happened during that night? Well let me explain how it came to be. One day at the stroke of midnight, there was a girl who was at the time carrying a baby in her arms, and well she was known for getting herself into things she couldn’t handle. At the time the girl was going to a school party with the baby in hand, but she didn’t realize what danger she could be in because of who she was but to this day no one seems to actually know who she was because her family had everything covered up. It is said that if you go to the school after hours and at midnight you will hear a baby cry like it is in the walls and it can be so loud that they get noise complaints from the surrounding houses. On October 4th Meg was at a coffee shop and she overheard a group of kids around her age talking about the legend of the girl and well Meg was intrigued by this because she went to the school but never heard of what they was say, so she decided to but in and tell them that she goes there and that they should go to the school at the time it happened. Everyone was all for it and was ready to go so Meg went with the group and as they got closer to the school they saw a group of people surrounding a tree which was uncommon because well it was midnight. As they walked up the group of people disappeared and so they thought it was really weird but continued to go into the school and what they heard was none other than the baby that was never found. Thanks for reading.
4/11 -Jaden Reese - Favorite time of year
If y'all know me you know that only one holiday is the one for me and the only one I get excited for the most, and that is none other than Halloween or better known as All Hallows’ Eve. Taking the holiday back in time it wasn’t one most people wanted to celebrate and that was because they believed that it was a day for the devil and was associated with the devil and that if you celebrated it then you would be taken over, but back in time the day marked the end of summer and the end of planting things but it was the beginning of the cold and dark winters. They also believed that it was the most associated time of year that dealt with human deaths. It is said that they believed that the boundary between the living world and the dead was opened or it kinda became blurred into one and they believed that the ghosts of the dead would return to the earth, but still to this day some people don’t celebrate it because they still believe that and i'm not say that you shouldn’t we all have our own opinions on everything. I was born and raised with Halloween being celebrated and being the most fun and getting to eat a lot of candy but some people weren't and that is totally okay because everyone views everything differently. Over the years my Halloween and how I celebrate it has changed a bit and the traditions that were from the year before we don’t do much anymore. Some traditions we did for Halloween were watching scary movies all the way up to the 31st, going to haunted houses, dressing up, handing out candy, going trick or treating with my little brother/ cousins, and finally scaring people, which I will always dress up for the holiday because why not, it is so much fun being something you aren’t normally. This is my favorite time of year because it is the beginning of fall and it is just so pretty how the trees turn different colors and how it's not that hot but yet not that cold. It is really just a good time to go to parks or haunted houses which are so much fun.
3/11 -Jaden Reese -What I want to be
Okay we are now traveling back to when I was younger, we are now entering into that time. You know when you are young your teacher or the people around you ask you one question that may or may not change over the years as you grow older and even when you are older you still may not know what you would like to do. When I was younger, the people around me wanted to be doctors, neurses, veterinarians, teachers, military, ect. It seems like there are more and more options as the years go on and is harder to choose the path you want to take and that is me right now everyone has a path they are choosing to go down and they know what they would like to do for the rest of their lives, but me aww man I have no idea but when I was little I always wanted to be a veterinarian because I was really good with animals and loved animals which I still do but I do not think that I have what it takes to be that, so then I thought about being a teacher, I think like a first or second grade teacher but I don’t really like school that much. So as I've gotten older I thought about being a Herbalist which is a person who studies herbal medicine and the healing properties of plants. A Herbalist is someone who practices making or prescribing plant based herbal remedies for medical conditions which means instead of prescribing today's medicine they would prescribe some remedies that would help and it may help more than today's medicine would. I have even taken some online classes for it and it was pretty cool. I really like learning about how different plants can be taken and turned into different things that could help with a lot of things. I still may not be sure of what I want to be but I do know where I want to live and if everything ends up the way life tends to be then we'll see what it may be.

2/11 -Jaden Reese- My own business
Hello this is another thing that's not going to make sense. We will be talking about my own business if and when I do create one and what it consists of. First off I'm here to say that I have two business ideas because you never know what will happen when one idea is created and the other is not. Okay so the one place I truly love is Eureka springs, Ar It is just beautiful and the scenery is just amazing. They have an awesome downtown that has many different store fronts and many different ideas. They don’t really have chain businesses like Starbucks or anything like that because their place runs on being unique and not like others. The stores that are there you wouldn’t think that it would make it because it's kinda weird but it's really surprising how many people they get. Okay back to my ideas, so I would like to have a store down in Eureka spring and I really like plants but not sure I could keep them alive but I like learning about herbs and how you can replace modern medicine with it, so instead of taking pills you could drink some kind of tea or put some kind of herb in your food to help with your problem because back in the old days they didn’t have what we have now nor the knowledge that we have now but they made it just fine. Also my mom is really good with plants and she was wanting to help with the plants in the store. So one one side of the store would be where we would sell the plants and the other side is where we would make the herbs and remedies for the shop.
So my next idea is to open up a store there also but because of the scenery they are known to be the coolest place to get married because of the thorn crown chapel and all its beauty and it is one of the most beautiful churches in American. My plan is to open up a wedding dress shop because they seem to not have one there and which is odd because it would be so cool. The shop would consist of wedding dresses, suits for the grooms, and flowers they can get for the wedding.
1/11 -Jaden Reese- The perfect day
Me describing the perfect day is like a child trying to pick out clothes by themselves. Which can be good or bad and it means that it can end up being a matching day for them or a complete mismatch day. This makes sense in my head but I can see if it doesn’t make sense to other people. I am a very indecisive person which means I have a lot of trouble making decisions or picking what I want to do. Which If you're my friend you already know this and get mad at me whenever I don’t know what I want to do/ eat. The perfect day for me can consist of literally anything because it can be a rainy and stormy day and watching Halloween movies or scary movies during that time is just perfect to me, not to most people though. A perfect day for me could be just hanging out with my sister and going shopping even though I dislike shopping and just talking about random things that will make us laugh. We have kinda a different sister bond than most because she talks so fast that we just start laughing and I try to say back to her what she said and it's just so funny, we make fun of each other and then just laugh about it. The perfect day for me though is not a bright sunny day but just a little cloudy and either hanging out with my mom and sister and going to the river or going flea marketing or hanging out with my friend which is so funny and so much fun. We have what we call a crackhead night which is not nothing bad and it consists of literally just laughing at random things that are not funny when we think about it the next day but were so funny that night. A night like that is so much fun because it is really just us having fun and not thinking about reality. You can see that a perfect day for me consists of many different things and many different ideas.
The Last One- 11/11 Alexis Roberson
For my final blog post, I like to do something special, something unique to conclude the last of the blogs. I want to start off by catching everyone up on my life, even though I have changed the topics of my latest blogs. First off, I have cheer camp this week, and I am already sore for the two days of practice. I know I’m going to be excited but also dreading next week.
It has also been stressful, my coaches told me today we will be doing a lot of stunting next week. Which means, I get to be thrown up in the air… alot. Flying isn’t scary, its the coming down and thinking your going to fall. Which I will get out of that headspace, I know the girls on the team have my back. If I go down falling, they are coming with me (in a good way). Oh, I almost forgot, I can sort of do a handstand now. I’ve tried on the wall without the mat. That didn’t go so well for me. I hit my head, and just decided to stick with the mat for now. I can kick my legs up, and hold it for a few seconds.
To some that might not be impressing, but for someone (me) who has never did cheerleading or any type of gymnastics like cartwheeling, and handstands this is a huge accomplishment. I am pretty glad I am overcoming my fears, and getting out of my head space that I can’t do a handstand. The first time I realized I was really upset down, I fell, which is kind of funny but not funny at the same time. I was upside down and realized.
Now all I would have to do is work on my cartwheels (that I can’t do at all). With this little step, I feel more confident that I can do things. Its the small things that help with bigger goals. I am almost finished with the Models Of Writing, our other summer assignment. I only have four headings to write about, which I am excited about. I did, however, skip around on the the second chapter, and got the “easiest” reading out of the way. That way, I would have less work to do, and less stress on myself for the upcoming week.
Not to mention school starting back soon, and eventually doing everything I learned at practice in front of the whole school. It’s kind of scary but thrilling at the same time. Well that is my life right now. It’s been a pleasure sharing it all with you, and I have enjoyed reading everyone’s posts. So, to conclude this blog post I will like to share some appropriate memes I found on the internet.

Getting To Know Me- 9/11- Alexis Roberson
Everyone has a hobby. I would like to share my top 10 hobbies with you, because why not. I don’t think anyone really knows much about me. I am quiet and reserved, so lets change that.
My keyboard. I love to play my piano or keyboard (however you want to say it). I absolutely love playing it. I haven’t had the time to learn any new chords to Say Something. I know it will be worth the wait.
Reading. I absolutely love reading. Its my favorite thing to do when I have free time. Unfortunately this summer, I didn’t get to read as much has I had hope. I’ve been quite busy, but I don’t mind it.
Cheer. I don’t know if you would count is as a hobby, but I am going to do that. I have been enjoying cheer, while also being tired and sore as well. Its been an exciting new adventure, and definitely outside of my comfort zone.
Rubik’s cube. I don’t know if anyone knows this, but I love playing with my rubik’s cube. Whenever I’m bored I sit there, and time myself on how fast I can solve it. I’ve been sloppy with my times lately, hopefully I can get it up, and be faster than I was.
Netflix and Disney Plus. Again, I don’t know if this would count as a hobby, but it is something I love to do. I love to sit down and just vibe sometimes. Especially when watching all my favorite netflix shows, and bench watching other shows.
Writing. This has to be my favorite, but also tiresome too. I love to create stories, and make up my own world and imagination. The only problem is when I start a story, its a really good idea. I get lazy with it, and it flops. However, with my recent book, its sort of completed, I just have to go back and add more words for it to be a real “novel.”
Xbox. I LOVE my xbox. I really like to play fornite though. I usually play solos, or I play duos with family members and friends. I am not good at it, I have to say, but I sure do love to play it.
TikTok. Unfortunately, like with most teens, I have become addicted to TikTok. However, I keep gaining followers for some odd reason. I don’t know what they see. I love doing the lives, and meeting new people. It’s fun to make new friends, but also be careful as well. I have had to remove a few people off of my TikTok.
Art. I can not express this enough. I love to draw, paint, really create anything. As long as I can draw and paint, I’m fine. I absolutely love to paint trees without any leaves. That has to be my favorite. When I draw, I prefer to draw cartoon characters. I don’t like to draw a lot of details with my drawings. Somethings I do, and sometimes I just don’t feel like it.
Makeup. I am a very artistic person, and so makeup is just another form of art to me. I love messing with my eyeshadows and creating different colors on my eyelids. I also like to add lots of glitter to my eyes too. I think it just brings a little extra something.
Now, I just want to give a little background information about me. You heard me rant about my summer, like with everyone else I suppose. You know what I like, but you still really don’t know me.
I am Alexis Roberson. We are all in the 11th grade, I turned 17 years old in May of this year. I have two parents. I have my biological mother, and my step-dad adopted me. I have two dogs, named Kenzie and Bexley. I have 12 siblings (sometimes I say 11, because theres a lot), and I have 10 nieces and nephews, with one great niece. My favorite colors are purple and black. Here’s getting to know me.
