M.I.A (Pt. 1) - Brittany Tucker (#17)

    Kimberly stared blankly at the wall in front of her. “I didn’t mean for this to happen...”
    A feminine voice stopped the insufferable ringing in her ears, “Well, it doesn’t have to be this way, y’know. You tell me what happened; I’ll let you go.”
    Kimberly glanced to the woman, seeing long dark hair and latte-colored skin. She pulled her knees closer to her thin body, remaining silent.
    The woman sighed before sitting down in front of her, “Ms. Wilson, I’m Agent Jones. I’m here to help you, okay?”
    Kimberly nodded, still silent.
    “Okay. Why don’t you start by telling me what happened.”
    Kimberly took a deep shaky breath, “Everything started about two weeks ago. We were talking about writing a book together, and she was helping me with a blog post for our summer assignment for our English class...” tears welled in her eyes.
    Agent Jones gently prompted her to continue as Kimberly wiped the tears off her face.
    “She was gonna write the first chapter so I could see how we’d go about writing the book,” a broken smile made its way to Kimberly’s lips. “I didn’t think it’d turn out like it did...” she finally looked to Agent Jones. “I didn’t do it, I promise!” she suddenly exclaimed.
    Agent Jones sighed again, pinching the bridge of her nose. “Like I said, you help me, I help you. Now, tell me what happened. Start with what you saw that night.”
    Kimberly nodded. “Well...”
* * * *
    Kimberly was bawling as she finished her tale.
    Agent Jones looked to the one-way mirror, shaking her head, before calling someone in to calm Kimberly down, leaving as soon as they got there.
    “How’d it go?” her partner, Agent Finch, asked as she stepped into the hallway.
    “Call Agents Hood and Graves. We’ll need them for this one.”

  1. Good job on this one. It is written well and has good detail to help imagine the characters. Currently I cant tell whether you are making a completely sarcastic drama out of doing summer assignments or spinning it into some kind of serious tale. I also have a slight suspicion that this is based off of an actual conversation between you and Kimi. Who knows, only time will tell. Harrison McCall #15
