This is for the first week
State convention this year was pretty fun and went by way too quick, except it wasn’t exactly a smooth ride. It all started when my alarm went off on Tuesday morning. It was a sound I had been anticipating all night. That morning, while I was eating breakfast, I began to run through a mental checklist of everything I needed for the trip. I was pretty sure I had everything ready to go (or so I thought) and proceeded to wait on my dad to come pick me up and take me to the school. Though my waiting had only just begun, because when I got to the school I still had the entire bus ride from Lake City to Camp Couchdale. And if that was not tedious enough, it turned out that the AC on the bus was broken. So for about four hours Gabe, Sam, Morgan, Gracie, Mrs. Booth, and I were being baked alive, while Mr. Wynne sat at he front of the bus with the only working AC. To try and pass the time, Gabe, Gracie, and I played the alphabet game. It is pretty simple; all you have to do is find a word outside the vehicle, whether it is on a billboard, store, vehicle, etc., that starts with the letter you are on, starting with A and going through the rest of the alphabet in order. Much to my surprise I won by actually completing the challenge (for the first time) and not just completing more than everyone else. I carried this state of winning with me when I demolished Gabe at the mini-golf course we always go to. Laying in bed that first night is when I finally started to realize the consequences of leaving my pillow at home. Throughout the week I got to here from and meet a lot of people: Miss America, a really cool motivational speaker, the National FFA President (who is from Arkansas), as well as a past state officer. By the time it was all over I hated to see it go; however, I was ready to finally have a pillow to sleep on.

As much as you and Gabe get on my nerves in the classroom when yall argue, I never want to sit on a long bus ride with you two. Lol. I'd have to wear ear plugs.
ReplyDeleteState Convention was a blast! It will never get old seeing how annoyed Gabe gets when you beat him at something. You and Gabe make sure that there is never a dull moment. I'm sorry you didn't have a pillow, but you can't say I didn't offer you mine. I was trying to repay you for letting me use you pillow our very first trip to Camp Couchdale. Thank you for making my last trip so much fun and one that I will never forget. I also want to thank you for always keeping up with my meal ticket, and for always making sure us girls have great spots in line and during sessions.
ReplyDeleteState Convention was really fun. Even though we spent quite a bit of time "arguing"(even though we both agree that is just the way that we talk to each other). I hope that every State convention we go to will be just as fun as the last two. Even though it seemed to go by really fast, I really enjoyed hanging out by the lake and going for walks through the little forested area. Keep up the great writing and have a great school year.
