Price then tells the team of a mission he was a part
of in 1996, he was a lieutenant assigned under the command of Captain
MacMillian. It was their mission to assassinate Zakhaev (a Russian
Ultranationalist) while he was preforming a weapon trade. He was trading
nuclear fuel rods for weapons. The two snuck their way through the abandoned
city of Pripyat, Ukraine. They had to wear ghillie suits and were ordered to
keep their engagement to enemy troops minimal and to stay undetected.
Eventually they reached a hotel and stayed on the top floor for three days
waiting for Zakhaev to arrive to make his trade. When Zakhaev arrived it was
Prices job to take the shot (in the game you treat it like a real sniper shot;
you have to watch for wind speed by looking at a flag on the back of one of the
trucks). Once Price shoots, and it doesn’t matter where you aim on the body,
the bullet hits Zakhaev in the arm and the two are spotted. They don’t take a
second shot because they believe Zakhaev will die of blood loss and shock. They
begin their escape and have to fight through a lot of enemies and even dogs.
While running between two apartment buildings a helicopter begins to chase
them. Price grabs a javelin rocket launcher and shoots down the helicopter.
Price and MacMillian are forced to run away from it as it is quickly crashing
down towards them. The helicopter crashes and the rotor blade stops spinning
right as it is about to strike MacMillian, killing him. He was lucky to survive
the crash, but was injured when he tripped and fell. Price was forced to carry
him and set him down when they had to fight against enemy troops. They continue
until they get to the area where they are supposed to extracted. The two have
to fight off big groups of enemies waiting for the helicopter to come and
extract them. The helicopter lands and Marines come out to protect Price as he
carries MacMillian into the helicopter, both are saved.
