Ally Pendergrass

All throughout my childhood and continuing today I have had a very close relationship with my family. I am very fortunate to have a family who I know cares about me and will always support me. Sure we have had our ups and downs, but that doesn’t stop us from getting together almost once every week. I believe others should be grateful for what family they have. I also believe it is very important to have at least some form of relationship with family. From what I have been taught growing up, being close with family is vital. If I didn’t have a relationship with my family, I don’t know what I would do. I definitely think that I wouldn’t be near as happy or the person I am today. Family is a very necessary connection. They are like a support system. They can build you up or break you down, but in the end they are always there. Even the family that breaks you down has shaped you in some way. I believe one should always be grateful for the family they have because it’s never known when they could be gone. With my personal experience, certain family members have become like my best friends. We have a bond that I know will last a lifetime, even if things get a little rocky. This is how family should be. I understand that not everyone has a great relationship with their family, but take a second and look at everything they’ve done and be thankful. There will be fights, but don’t turn them away and not try to get through it. Reflect on all the memories made and things they’ve done before making that big of a decision. Always have families back and they should always have yours.

  1. Ally, that was such an important reminder. We should all love our family no matter what. I struggle with this daily because, to be honest, my family gets on my nerves sometimes. They are insane, but at the end of the day I love them, they mean the world to me. I think that is also why I want such a big family when I grow up. I want to have a husband who is a good father and loves our children. I could go on and on about this, but loved your essay! Autumn Courtney
