This I Believe-- Teressa Boatman

I believe in many things and have strong feelings towards these things. One of the many things I believe in is love, at any age. I believe no matter your age, everyone is capable of loving and feeling love. Love is a feeling that all people can experience.
Some might think, “she's five she doesn’t know what love is” but this child loves her caregiver, she relies on them for so many things and whether or not it is noticed, the child is grateful for it. There are different types of love, though. Loving someone intimately and loving someone for their heart. To make things a bit clearer, loving someone intimately is when you are in a relationship and feel a love for them, definitely not the same as saying that you love your mom or dad. Loving a mom or dad is like showing your feelings of safety, security, and happiness all combined. Even to make things a bit clearer, being in love is different than loving someone, but everyone, no matter the age can feel the sensation of love.
Many didn’t believe it at first, but when I was only 17 I fell deeply in love with my boyfriend. Everyone said, “you’re too young to know what love is” but that couldn’t be any more wrong. I have such a strong feeling of love towards my boyfriend, I know what love is, I’ve felt it for the first time when I engaged in a serious relationship with him. If I were to be 15, I’d still love this man with all my heart because I now know what love is.
Love cannot be determined by an age. A small child loves their mother, as their mother loves them. You cannot tell that child that they don’t love their parents, because children learn to love at a very young age. Loving is an important part of life. All people, no matter their age, are capable of feeling love and giving love!

  1. I agree with you! Age is nothing but a number. I find it hard to love others fully at times, we all struggle with this, but this is such a great reminder that we shouldn't have to. We should be able to show and express our emotions!

  2. I agree with everything you say. As we grow throughout life, we feel love in so many different ways. Sometimes we regret who we love, but the feeling is one of bliss and security. We feel love for parents, for our first boyfriend or girlfriend, for our best friend, even for our pets! -Zoe
