blogs - whitney wagganer
How i feel about doing twenty two blogs, twenty two comments, and twenty five quotes from the book Freedom Writers, has been pretty challenging. In all honesty, everyone said that the blogs would be the hardest thing about the summer assignment. Honestly, i feel as if it was my easiest. i don't understand why, i feel like that but i do. I mean it's not easy coming up with three hundred and fifty words on each, but i did not find this to be as hard as everyone said. It was a tad bit difficult to do the twenty two blogs, but it was not that horrible. As i was doing the blogs, i kept getting so side tracked, i am not going to lie. But considering this is my twenty second one, i'm am very pleased to say i am finished with the blogs. Now all i have to do is the comments and do my quotes from the Freedom Writers Diary. I think i could also finish my comments today or at least by monday afternoon. This twenty second one is probably the hardest one i have had to do. i think it is because i have to think about things to write about and finish strong with it. I think it's because i'm tired and i feel like i have done like a million of these. I think another reason this is the hardest one i have done, is because i keep stopping rather than just continuing my thoughts on what i am writing about. i believe if i just wrote and not stopped then i would've finished by now and not think this is that difficult. After i finish this one, i will feel as if a small weight has been lifted off my shoulders. i did not really feel stressed about doing these blogs. it's just the fact there's twenty two blogs and twenty two comments to do on other people's work is what has me so stressed out these. I am so glad Ms. Long gave us four weeks to do these, thank you so much Ms. Long, or i would not be able to finish anything.
Mom and Dad -whitney wagganer
When my mom was only sixteen years old, she got pregnant by my dad. Now this is a little ahead of the story so let me back up real quick. My mom and dad went to school together for like four years. Mom and Dad both had a mutual friend that introduced them to each other and instantly fell in love. My dad was only a grade older than my mom but two years older than her. Eventually mom and dad started dating, then things got super very serious. When mom found out she was pregnant with my brother, she as terrified. She still graduated high school with a two year old baby. Once mom was twenty years old, she got pregnant with me. Still dad had not put a ring on it, but mom was pretty sure they'd get married. When i was two years old, mom and dad finally got married. Two years after mom and dad were married, mom went back to school and going her degree in nursing. She is an registered nurse. Still until this day in August, mom and dad are still together. They are the best parents i could have ever received. They support me and encourage me to do my best in everything i do. My mom is very unique. Unlike most moms, my mom enjoys twerking and singing Beyoncé. I mean in all honesty, we are the same person. We act exactly the same. That's when i'm happy and in a good mood, though. When i get mad or in a bad mood, me and my dad act the same. We both get loud and make this really scary mean face. We don't shut up when we are mad. We both over exaggerate things when we are upset. Some people say i look just like my mom, other people say i look like my dad. I believe i look like my mom in certain things. Like when i dress nice or wear my hair curled or straight, i believe me and mom look just the same , but if i'm wearing sweats and my hair up, i think that's when i look like my dad.
The Movement Youth Group-whitney wagganer
Every wednesday night, my church in blytheville, arkansas, has a youth group, like most churches. Our youth group is called the Movement Youth Group. Our youth pastor's name is Drew Robbins. He is married to Mrs. Dearia Robbins. They have two kids named Brnylee Grace, who is three years old, and Briar Andrew, who is not even one yet. Everyone tries to come between 6:30 and 6:45 PM, so we can all socialize and say our "hellos" and hug. The service doesn't start until like 7:05. Everyone at the movement is super kind. The people i mostly talk to are Madison Thomas, she's my all time best friend, Hannah Griffin, Callie Kenimore, Brianna Dunham, Haleigh Toombs, Jordan Buck, and of course all the youth leaders like Lindsey and Corey Branson. At the movement, we usually start of by playing a game. Some of the games we play are horse, rider, princess, which just so happens to be my favorite game. We also play bunny, bunny, bottle flipping, basketball dunk off, guess random songs or shows, and play many versions of rock, paper, scissors. Usually after the game we play, Pastor Drew calls everyone up to the front so we can go into worship. The people who lead worship is Madison Thomas and her father Chris Thomas and Brianna Dunham. Kit Thomas, who is Madison's brother, plays the guitar for us. Sometimes, Austin Middleton plays the drums for us. During worship, we usually sing either two or three songs. After the songs, Pastor Drew comes up and tells us to go back to our seats but either tells us to give a high five or give a hug to someone. After we all find our red seats, we usually watch an announcement video on what's going on in the church or any trips coming up. Next, Pastor Drew asks the youth group a question that correlates with their message he's going to preach about. We sit there for about 45 minutes and listen to the message. Then we have an alter call. After the alter call, we all circle up and hold hands and pray for each other, because we are one big family.
AAU/ Hoopsters - whitney wagganer
Ever since fourth grade, i have been playing AAU for Spencer Hoffman. We've played in many tournaments and gone what felt like all over the world, but in all honesty, we only travel anywhere from five minutes to four hours away. I figured i would play for Coach hoffman until i cant play summer basketball anymore. Which not this summer, but the summer after my senior year, so i only have two more summers to play with him. Over the years of playing AAU for Coach Hoffman, i have made many great friends. They are from all over north eastern arkansas, and missouri. The friends i have made from north eastern arkansas, are named Haven Robertson, Bailee Crowe, Hattie Milligan, Reagan Dodd, Brittney Sain, Claire Johnson, Kourtney Riggs, Kaitlyn Miller, and Bree Sharp. The friends i have made from Missouri are Dakayla Duckworth, Marquesha Mister, Madyson Crockett, Katelyn South, Hannah Thurman, Heidi Shetley, and AnnaBeth Williams. Some of the girls like AnnaBeth quit after like sixth grade. Most of us though, have stuck around and still continue to play. As the years of playing progressed, we started to go NCAA tournaments. Which means that we would be playing in front of college scouts. The tournaments we went to that were NCAA certificated were in Atlanta, Georgia, Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Branson, Missouri, St. Louis, Missouri, Nashville, Tennessee, and hundreds more i can't even think of. As the years gone by, i believe we starting to compete more. We used to lose by like forty plus, but now we actually are down one or two, or winning by like nine. It is very fun and exciting being a part of an AAU team, but being on the team means giving up other things you would like to do. As much as someone who would want to go a movie on a friday or saturday night, you can't because you're either playing or leaving. Most people think if you play AAU, you're one of those weird kids who don't have any friends, but you actually do have a life out side of practices and games. You just have to have friends who are okay with you not always being there every weekend.

the fosters - whitney wagganer
Everyone has a show they could sit around literally all day and watch. For some it's Grey's Anatomy, Criminal Minds, or what ever other shows are out there. My show i could sit around all day and watch is The Fosters. The Fosters is a very suspenseful and very addicting. The show in the first season was about a girl named Callie. Callie has a brother named Jude. Callie and Jude were in seven foster homes. They went in the once their mother had die and her father was arrested for doing drugs and drinking. In the first episode on season one, is Lena, one of the foster mothers, came to the juvenile center to get Callie. She saw that Callie had recently got into a fight. Which she was literally in one right before Lena had got there. She took Callie and Jude back to her house. When Callie got to Lena's house. She quickly saw that Lena, was married to Steph. Steph is a cop. Steph who was married to Mike, who is also a cop, had Brandon. Brandon and Callie are the same age. They are about sixteen or seventeen in season one. Callie and Jude then met the twins, Marina and Jesus. The twins were a year or two younger than Callie and Brandon. Callie and Brandon saw each other and instantly caught feelings but did not know it. The Foster's house is very tiny, yet they have five teenagers living there with only one bathroom, which is a Jack and Jill. Throughout season one, Steph and Lena continuously have the discussion on if they want to adopt Callie and Jude. At first, they were one hundred percent on board on adopting them. Then Callie got into some trouble with people and things and it pushed back on if they should adopt her or not. They went ahead and adopted Jude because they loved Jude. Another reason they adopted Jude before Callie, was because Jude and Callie had the same mother but different fathers. Jude's father signed off immediately once he found Jude was getting adopted. Callie's father did not.
junior year - whitney wagganer
This year is my junior year of high school. Everyone says your junior year is your hardest year. I do not believe that. I believe it will be my most stressful year, but not my hardest. Reason being is because this year, i decided to take two advance placement classes. Last year, i only took one, and it was a history class with Ben Hogard. My first advance placement class, i have is in the morning. The class is taught by T.J. Akins. He is teaching me AP United States History. We haven't done much in there yet, but i guess it's because the cromebooks we just got and the teachers and students are all still trying to figure them out. T.J. says that the class is the hardest class we'll ever take in our life time. I think i'll be okay in that class. I think i'll come out with a B. The second advance placement, is AP Lang, or Comp one. this class is taught by Ms. Long. She says we're basically freshmen in college right now. Which kind of scares me about her class. I think it will be a good class, but i think or at least i hope, i'll come out with a B in there, also. This semester, i am taking psychology with Ben Hogard. His class is not con current. since this reasoning, next semester i am also retaking it with Mrs. Priest. Her class with be with con current credit, and i want to get that class out of the way, also. Reason being i want to take all these advance placement classes, is so when i'm in college, i'll already have these classes and i won't have to worry and of stress about them in college. Overall, in my junior year of high school, i am going to have fun. Another reason i'm excited for a being a junior, is having more freedom and responsibilities. Even though i may be stressed out more than i would like to, i would like to enjoy my year before my last year of high school.
Disneyland-Whitney Wagganer
In the year of 2012, i took another trip in a plane. I went to the "Happiest Place on Earth." The place was Disneyland in Orlando, Florida. We flew from Memphis, Tennessee to Orlando, Florida which only took, maybe an hour and a half. When we got to Disneyland, they took us to a room that was so ugly and so small, we had to change. Thankfully, we didn't have to pay any. more money for the new and better room they had provided for us. At the park at Epcot, there was like everyone from the United States and Japan there. It was completely crowded. At Epcot, there was a parade going on when we got there. Also, at this park, is Cinderella's castle. The castle was huge and absolutely stunning. At Epcot, me and my family, took family pictures with the whole Mickey Mouse Club House squad. The stars like Mickey Mouse, Minnie, Mouse, Goofy, Donald Duck, and Daisy Duck. It was kind of late in the day once we arrived there, so we did not get to do much that day. What we did get to do was watch the firework show that night. It was fantastic to see their firework show. The next day we went to animal kingdom. Which is all about the animals. It was like the savannah. It was burning hot outside. We did get a gentle breeze though. We went on a safari ride. It was a tan color, and it sat two people per seat. During the safari ride, we saw giraffes, elephants, lions, tigers, and bears oh my. It was pretty interesting getting to see all the animals. In the middle of the park, there's a tree. The tree was not alive, but rather made up of different animals to look like the bark of the tree, animals like monkey's, snakes, alligators, elephants, lion, turtle, fox, kangaroo, panda bear, and kola bears. At both parks we rode a lot of rides. We went to the other parks, also, but i don't remember the names of them. What i do remember is that we had a lot of fun and rode all the rides.
Compass test- Whitney Wagganer
The compass test, the test you take, if you can not make a nineteen on the ACT, for placement in advanced placement classes, is the most stressful thing i have ever done in my entire life. The test itself is not hard at all, but preparing for it and actually making sure you get them right, is stressful. There are five questions on the first couple of passages. On the next few, you have eight questions and generally a pretty long passages. Each time i have recently taken the compass test, i made a seventy-nine. This time on August twenty-sixth, i pray that i actually made at least an eighty-three. On each passage, i wrote down a whole bunch of information to help me stay focused on what i was reading. Also if you write down information on the passage, you tend to actually remember what you read. Another good reason to write notes down, is for only your benefit, it can not hurt you to write down what you think is important, but it can hurt you because you won't remember what you even read if you're not paying attention. if you're not paying attention, then there's not possible way for you to even pass the compass test.
On August twenty-sixth, on the compass test, i made an eighty-nine. After the test, a couple of us taking the test like Preston Nicholas, Wesley Jordan, Kylie Huth, and Carson Smith, patiently waited for our results. We all were very eager to know what we made. We sat, and waited, and waited. Once we finally got on the bus, Mrs. Shey Williams gave us our compass scores. Everyone got their scores before i did. I got so nervous after people had token me that they did not past their test with an eighty-three or higher. Finally, Mrs. Shey had given me mine, and I was so overwhelmed with joy. i smiled from ear to ear. and called my mom immediately. After i had talked to my mom, i called my dad and he told me he would cook me steak, hots dogs, and cheeses potatoes. On each passage, i wrote down many things on the passage i thought was important. I was the happiest person ever.

Paris- Whitney Wagganer
Have you ever been young and thought either "i'm gonna dig a hole so i can get to the other side of the world," or "i'm just gonna drive my car to the other side of the world," then realizing that's not even theisable. Well, i have too. When i was twelve years old, in the year of 2012, my mom, my "grandmother", and me all went to Paris. As a twelve year old, who had never flown a day in her life, i thought we were going to drive our cars all the way from Memphis, Tennessee to Paris, France. Really don't know why i thought that, but all i knew what i was really excited to go. So in early June, we drove to Memphis international airport and flew to Dallas, Texas. When we got to Dallas, we got on a huge plane that took us from Dallas to London England, which took like 15 hours. I didn't get to see England, but i saw the inside of the airport. After we had gotten to England, we went through airport security, which is so scary. After England, we took a plane that to us to Frankfurt, Germany. There, Neil, granny Lisa's son, picked us up from the airport. After a couple of days of exploring Germany, the best day happened. We were going to get on a train, which took two hours, to Paris. Paris was absolutely beautiful. The day we decided to go, what the perfect day to go. The sun was shining, the big puffy white clouds were in the sky, and it had a gentle breeze. Everyone was out and about around the City of Love. We went and saw the Mono Lisa, in the Louvre. We went and saw Paris' main attraction. The Eiffel Tower. It was so high up. Everyone, and i mean literally everyone was in line just to go up it. We didn't have time to go up the Eiffel Tower, but i'm glad i got to see it in person. If i could change one thing about that trip, it would be to go up the Eiffel tower, and look over the amazing city of Paris.
Friends-Whitney Wagganer
In my life time, I have developed great friends. I honestly don't know what I would've done with out my friends, to be honest. My friends and I always are laughing or singing or dancing when we are together. What I have learned over there years though, is that guy friends are just a little better than girls at keeping secrets. I'm not dissing on girls, it's just guys don't care so they don't say anything to anyone honestly. But there are the occasional friends that are girls who will actually keep secrets. Some of friends that are girls I am talking about, are actually my best friends. Ally for example. She is the probably the best person to tell things to. She listens. She doesn't go run her mouth to everyone in the world. She even gives you what you need to hear rather than what you to want to hear. Madison is the same way. She even gives you a Jesus insight of what she thinks or feels is right for someone. Madison always wants the best for people. She wants to see people excel in life so she gives you advice or information from something like the Bible would say. Lotti, Haven, and Hattie are all the same way. They know if you tell them something that you don't want it to get around. They all actually respect what you say. I'm sure there are a lot more girls out there like them, but those are the best friends that are girls in my life that i know won't say anything about what I have told them. My best guy friend would either have to be Zo or Braden. I trust them with my life. I know for one-hundred precent fact, they won't tell anyone any secrets I have. I know because I actually have proof of it. They care about me as a person and the information, but they don't care enough to go around flapping their jaws about my business. Braden and I have gotten close over the past year so I really trust him a lot. I have known Zo though, since I was in eighth grade, therefore i trust him a lot. I am beyond thankful for the friends God put into my life.
Bucket List- Whitney Wagganer

The Olympics-Whitney Wagganer
Everyone knows every four years the summer Olympics come around. I love watching all the forty-two sports, if i have time to. My favorite sports i try to make time for are the artistic gymnastics, trampoline gymnastics, swimming, basketball, soccer, track, beach volleyball, water polo, and tennis.
Simone Biles, from the United States of America, medaled fourteen times. She won three consecutive titles as an individual, three gold for her floor routines, two on the uneven bars, and two from the team medals. Aly Raisman was from Needham, MA. She was the all around silver medalist. She was also the floor exercise silver medalist. Gabby Douglas is probably most named women in artistic gymnastics. In the 2016 Rio Olympics, she did not win any medals. She was still very supportive of her teammates that did. That's all that matters. Yes, she is a great gymnast, she still gave it her all and did not envy those who did better. Madison Kocian was only nineteen years old, from Dallas, Texas. Her best event as a gymnast, was uneven bars. She did get a silver medal on that event. For the trampoline gymnastics, Logan Dooley, a male, competed in the Rio Olympics but did not win the United States any kind of medal.
The fastest man in the world is from Jamaica. He is THE Usain St. Leo Bolt. We know him as just Bolt. He is a sprinter, who is the first man to hold both the one-hundred and two-hundred meters world record. He does not just run those events either. He also runs the four by one relay. Which is each person from his team runs one-hundred meters. Bolt is mostly known for the one-hundred and two-hundred meter sprints though. He is over six foot and weighs two-hundred and nine pounds. Bolt has six medals. Bolt said he was done running in the olympics. In all honesty, I think in year of 2020, he will be back and ready to get more gold medals. I believe that because Bolt likes to compete. Therefore be back for more medals. The Olympics are so very exciting to watch.

Riverside-Whitney Wagganer
At the beginning of my tenth grade year, I went to Valley View until mid September. I didn't really like it there. So then I moved to Riverside. Best decision I made in my entire life. At Riverside, I love the people there. More than ninety precent of them are actually kind. The teachers are very laid back and chill. Which is a very good thing, I believe. I also enjoy we could graduate at Riverside with classes you'd take in college but you're getting them free in high school. Everyone at Riverside you talk to, are not stuck up. The people i mostly associate with , is Wesley Jordan, Hattie Milligan, Haven Robertson, Bailey Fisher, Karlee Sanders, Austin Smith, Lotti Hoffman, Braden Overman, Gavin Stone, Dylan Austin, Brittney Sain, Hayden Mathis, and Jon Milligan. I like to talk to everyone else, but those are the people i talk to more than anyone else.
Every morning, at seven, the Riverside Lady Rebels work out in the morning. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday we do shooting drills to make sure when season starts we're all getting buckets from any distance. On Tuesday and Thursday, we lift weight and do explosive training, so we'll be able to not get pushed around and fight the other players back when they push us. Working out does get very tiring and you feel like you're dying, but when the season starts, all these mornings will be worth it. Plus it's great because you get to work out and shoot with your best friends every morning.
Now that i am a junior in high school, i hope that this year is going to be a year of remembrance. So far though, it's been a year of stress and it's only the second week. I enjoy we did get our own Cromebooks, but i already miss paper because that's all i've ever known. I think it will help a lot of students not get behind and help the teachers know more and not believe the excuses the students try to use. All in all, i'm very glad i moved to Riverside, and i hope to graduate from there.
Brookland- Whitney Wagganer
When I was going into ninth grade, i moved schools for the first time in nine years, and it changed my life forever. I only originally moved to Brookland for basketball. if i would've known what i know now, i would've moved over there a long time ago. The people were fantastic, the teachers were phenomenal, the coaches were great, and the community was just amazing.
When I first got the option to move to Brookland, i did not want to. I was so terrified of being the new kid in ninth grade. Most people in ninth grade already have their own little friend groups and do not let anyone else in. Instead of being the only new kid, there were a couple more who came too. My first friend at Brookland was named Gracie Hyde. She was so funny and outrageously athletic. My next friend Ally Loflin. She and I were basically the same person, the only difference was that she was more quiet. The rest of my friends I continued to meet throughout the day.
On the first day of school at Brookland, we all go into the auditorium. I remember I didn't know where absolutely anything was. I ran up to Lotti Hoffman and said "WHERE DO I GO?" she then pointed me to the direction of where my ninth grade class was sitting. I sat dead middle. I then waited and waited to see people from the team. Then, that's when Gracie came and sat with me.
Through my year at Brookland, it was an amazing year. i saw more fights that i've ever seen in my entire life. I didn't know what to think of them. i met the nicest, loudest coaches ever there. There names were Coach Richey and Coach Gross. Coach Richey was the senior high girls coach and he was a great coach. He had to stop coaching because his wife was pregnant. Coach Gross was the senior high boys coach. He had led his boys team to a state tournament victory in 2014. I loved Brookland, and the people in it.

Armorel-Whitney Wagganer
Ever since I was a baby, my family and I lived in Blytheville,
Arkansas. My brother since kindergarten went to Armorel. Armorel is a tiny
school. He had about thirty-five people in his class in total. The school only
had one hallway with maybe thirty classrooms. I went to Armorel from
kindergarten to eighth grade. I moved the summer before my ninth grade year.
Over my years at Armorel, I had good friends. They still, to this day are very
good friends, we just don’t see or talk to each other a lot. Their names are
Blaine McCormick, Olivia Myers, Matt Wyatt, Jonathan Willard, Emma Haskins, Wesley
Walls, Kelsey Brooks, and Andrea FitzPatrick. Kelsey was two years older than
me, but we had been friends forever because our brothers played baseball
together. Olivia and Wesley were two years younger than me, Matt, Jonathan,
Blaine, Andrea, and Emma. All of us are twenty-eighteen graduates. As a girl
who loved basketball, even in my younger years, every day from fourth to sixth
grade at recess me and all the guys would always play pick-up basketball games.
Those were so intense we lost friendships over them until the next day when we
would re-pick teams and play again. Once we all got into seventh grade, we were
even closer than we ever were in elementary. We went to the movies more, went
out and ate more, or even just hand out at everyone’s houses then. We would
ride around on four-wheelers or they would come to my house and we would swim
our lives away. Usually, we couldn’t drive these places yet, so we would have
our parents take us everywhere. I am sure we annoyed them, but they knew we
should have a childhood and hand out with each other a lot. Before I moved, all
my friends and I made a pack to have the best summer of our lives. That way we
could die with memories and we’d never forget our laughs, cries, or laughing
until we cried of that year. I am very glad I grew up with those people, I don’t
know what I would do without our memories.

Me-Whitney Wagganer
My name is Whitney Wagganer. I am sixteen years old. I was born in Blytheville, Arkansas. I love to travel because I do a lot of it. I've been to Paris, Germany, Switzerland, Las Vegas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, England, and Texas. I've rode in thirteen planes. I've always had a passion for sports. Over the past sixteen years, I've played softball, soccer, ran track, cheered, and played basketball. I played softball for twelve years, played soccer for three years, ran track for three, cheered on a team for two years, and played basketball eight years and still counting. Over the past four years, I went to four different schools. The schools I've been to are Armorel, Brookland, Valley View, and Riverside. I went to Armorel from kindergarten until eighth grade. Then I went to Brookland for one year and I absolutely loved it. I made a lot of great friends at Brookland, that I am still friends with today. Their names are Ally Loflin, Emily Skaggs, Maddy Minton, Braxton Haff, Keiston Belle, Douglas Fenimore, and Bethany Colbert. After a bunch of different things happened, I left after my freshmen year. After I had left Brookland, I went to Valley View for two weeks and hated it. Then I left and ended up at Riverside. I have a wonderful family. I have a brother, Tyler, who is twenty-one. My mom and dad who are very supportive of me. I also have amazing friends. Luckily for me, most of my best friends are who I get to call teammates. Their names are Hattie Milligan, Haven Robertson, Lotti Hoffman, Mallory Felton, and Brittney Sain. My other best friends who are not on the team, are Braden Overman, Wesley Jordan, Zorey Chipman, Madison Thomas, Jon Milligan, and Karlee Sanders. My absolute best friend though, is my mom. She is the kindest, funniest, best all around person you'd ever meet in your entire life. In my free time, if I'm not in the gym, I like to shop, get pedicures, and go to the salon. I enjoy being a girl on my off days, rather than being a sweaty girl who shoots or lifts weights. I'm active in my youth group, the Movement.
Las Vegas- Whitney Wagganer
When most people think of Las Vegas, they think about either gamblers or drinking and partying. Las Vegas, yes is known for that, but the location is more than just that. Las Vegas is one of Nevada's main tourist attraction. It has bright lights that light up the night like stars. Las Vegas has The Strip full of hotels, restaurants, and stores. The Strip is two miles long. One of the places on the Strip, is "New York, New York." This Casino is modeled to look like New York, City. It has a remodel, of the Statue of Liberty. Also, New York, New York, has the Hersey's Chocolate store inside it, which is two stories high. New York, New York also has a roller coaster that looks like taxi cab. The roller coaster goes up as tall as the Statue of Liberty. It goes around and upside down, and even goes through the casino! I rode it twice. Down a couple of casinos to the right, was the Mandala Bay. In this casino they put on a Michael Jackson Cirque du Soliel show. The show was about four kids trying to get Michael's sunglasses, shoes, glove, and hat he used to perform in. They played all his songs like Billie Jean, Dirty Dianna, and Man in the Mirror. When the end was coming near of the show, the directors of the show, made a hologram of Michael Jackson and all dancers "danced" with him. They all danced to Man in the Mirror. Another casino, all the way down the strip, was called the Stratosphere. This casino was all about going up. There were three rides on there. One was bungy jumping off the side of the building. The jump was eight-hundred and fifty-five feet. I jumped and I was scared for my life. After I had gone, my dad did and he had a crash landing, he was okay after, he just didn't land on his feet. My mom who was very scared stayed on the ground with her uncle, who drove from California, and recorded both of us jumping off the building.
The Comeback part two - Whitney Wagganer
After seven long, miserable months and twenty-nine days, Whitney went to doctor on February first and got the best news of her entire life. Doctor Azar said Whitney no longer needed to come see him and that she was ready to play. Whitney had mixed feelings about the news. When she heard the doctor say she was ready to play, she thought he meant, the next day. Instead, he meant, that she could play without a lot of cutting or physical contact. He actually meant that when AAU starts, in April, she would be at one-hundred precent. Whitney was so excited she texted people that had not spoken to hear in millions of years. Once Whitney got to practice the next day, she had to run eleven sprints. She was beyond tired after the first down and back. She knew it wasn't going to be easy, but also knew that it was going to be worth it. April ninth came around, first game of the AAU season, Whitney knew it was go time. When she got out there, she didn't feel any different, as if she had been playing since last April. Anyone could tell Whitney was completely out of shape, though. All the other girls were out running her, out scoring her, and out hustling her. Whitney knew that she'd be a little rusty when she first came back, and she was so happy that her teammates, Hattie Milligan, Haven Robertson, Brittney Sain, Lotti Hoffman, Bailey Fisher, and Mallory Felton, and coach, Coach Hoffman, had faith in her to still let her get to play the game she was completely in love with. All the parents came up to her and told her that they were so happy to see her out there playing again. She was getting text messages all day saying "Glad to have you back out there Whit!!" The messages made Whitney feel so good inside. All day she couldn't stop smiling, even though she was very exhausted, she couldn't be happier to be back on the court with her friends and playing for her favorite coach in the entire world.
The Comeback- Whitney Wagganer
After a week of not walking, no putting pressure on her leg, and not showering, Whitney went back to her doctor, Doctor Azar. He told Whitney she could start walking again and start doing physical therapy to make her quadricep strong again. He said it would take a lot of time and patience to get used to everything again. Whitney started doing physical therapy. When she first started doing therapy, she couldn't even lift her left leg. The doctor said it's because her leg was "still asleep." One day in physical therapy, after weeks of doing it, Whitney was very determined to lift her leg. Then she did it. She was so excited and very proud of the process she had made in just weeks. Whitney knew, anything was possible at this point. A couple more weeks went by, and Whitney went back to the doctor. He told her, she didn't have to use the crutches anymore and that she could stop wearing the brace, but she still had to wear it to sleep to keep her extension from being anything less than one-hundred and eighty degrees. Whitney then got released to start doing squats and working on getting her full range of motion. Once Whitney started getting more and more physically active again, she went to the gym and shot baskets with the Riverside Lady Rebels. The coach, Spencer Hoffman, only allowed her to shoot baskets from below the free throw line. Whitney would get very discouraged with him because she wanted to be like the rest of the girls like Hattie Milligan, Haven Robertson, Brittney Sain, and Lotti Hoffman and shoot from farther distances. Spencer Hoffman made her realize, after talking with her, that Whitney can't do those things because her leg was not ready. She wanted to be ready so bad. She knew she couldn't over push her self because she didn't want to go back to square one. She cried her self to sleep many nights. She even got frustrated with herself because couldn't do many things she loved, like swimming, running, or even track anymore.
Surgery Day- Whitney Wagganer
June second was the day that changed Whitney's life forever. She had surgery on her knee. It was the first time she had done anything like that before. She had to sit in the waiting room, what felt like for hours, but was only a matter of minutes. When she got there, they gave her a wrist band with her name, birthday, phone number, and parents number. They called her back to get her prep for surgery. She had to remove all her clothing. They gave her a gown and socks to wear during the surgery. She got an IV and had to get a pulse ox. She was very nervous, but she knew she was in good hands. Her nurse was very kind to her. Her nurse's name was Becky. Becky gave Whitney some medicine to make her drowsy, so when she went back to surgery she'd be out in no time. While Whitney was under medication, she started working on her shooting form. Clearly only basketball was going through her head. Once she got back into surgery, Whitney had an anesthesiologist, named Hunter. Whitney found him to be very attractive. Hunter was in his like mid twenties. Once Whitney got out of surgery, she got to post op and was still hooked up to millions of machines. Once nurse Becky came in, she discharged Whitney to go home. Once Whitney was in the car, she had pillows under her left leg and was starving. Whitney's parents then stopped at Chick-fil-A, in Germantown, Tennessee and got her a kids meal, four count. Whitney fell asleep eating the food and slept the whole way home to her house in Blytheville, Arkansas. She slept all the rest of the day until the next day when woke up in pain and took Percocets to stop the pain. Whitney went back to her other house in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Whitney had three visitors that day, Braxton Haff from Brookland, Arkansas, Lotti Hoffman from Marmaduke, Arkansas, and Drew Robbins from Blytheville, Arkansas. They all brought Whitney gifts. Whitney doesn't really anything, but she had parents tell her everything and has videos of the whole day.
ACL Tear - Whitney Wagganer
One beautiful spring morning
in April, the Arkansas Hoopsters went to Atlanta, Georgia to play basketball in
an NCAA event. We were down two, with eight minutes and twenty-seven seconds
left to go in the second half of the game. The Lady Trojans, from St. Louis
were trying to hold the ball and trying to keep the Hoopsters from scoring, because
they knew once the Hoopsters started scoring, they would lose. Haven Robertson,
guarding the point guard at the moment, was at the top of the key, playing the best
defense in her entire life. Whitney was in help side guarding the ball and her
man. Over hearing her coaches, Coach Ricky and Coach Crockett, screaming at her
“GO TRAP THE BALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”, she did. Then a terrible accident happened.
Whitney, jumped up and the point
guard from the Lady Trojans went to pass the ball to the girl Whitney was
guarding in help side. As the point guard from their team passed the ball, the
point guard’s right knee, kneed Whitney’s left outer knee and her ACL popped.
At the moment, she did not know what had popped, all she knew was the she
screamed and cried like she was murdered. Reagan Dodd, her teammate ran over to
her as she was on the ground to make sure she was okay. The coaches also ran
over there as she laid screaming her lungs out because she was in so much pain.
Coach Crockett finally got her to stop screaming and crying then carried her
back to the bench and sat her down. Everyone tried to make Whitney leave the
game, but she wanted to stick around and watched how it ended. All the Hoopster
moms, got Whitney ice, Ibuprofen, and lots of support that everything was going
to be okay. After the Hoopsters had won the game, Whitney, her aunt and uncle,
and mother and father drove over to another gym to see a personal trainer. The trainer
said her knee was a lot looser than it needed to be. The next day, Whitney and
her family drove to Memphis to see Dr. Fredrick Azar and he said Whitney had torn
her ACL.
