Junior Year: Haven Robertson

I am already stressed about the up coming school year and it hasn't even started yet. I signed up for some pretty challenging classes that I'm very nervous about. For example, pre-calculus, AP U.S. history, and AP english. I have always been the type of person to stress over the simplest things so that doesn't make shcool any easier for me. Even though my junior year will probably be very challenging, I'm also very excited. I'm looking forward to seeing all of my friends and to being one step closer to basketball season. I plan on coming up with ways to keep me from falling behind and stress free.
I am always up to push my self to the max and to see what I can accomplish. I'm sure that I will have to work extremely hard this coming school year. One thing I plan on doing to stay focused and on task is to do as much homework as I can on bus rides to basketball games and anytime I have even just a little free time. I also want to keep from procastinating by starting on all of my homework and class work as soon as I get home and not putting it off until a  later time.
God tells us to give all of our worries and cares to him and I know that I don't as much as I need to. This year I hope that I continue to remember that God cares for me and that I shouldn't stress my self out over the littlest things. I would like to also keep a planner to keep track of all assignments and due dates. I know that if I trust that God has a plan for me and my future that I will be just fine.
Besides the nervousness and apprehensiveness of the approaching school year, I'm very excited about starting back. I hope to have a great stress free year (doubt that happens.)

  1. It is so crazy that we are going to be juniors! I feel like we were playing basketball at recess only a few days ago. Anyways, I know you will do great in all of your classes. You are a very hard worker, and you are not the type to settle. We are pretty much taking the same classes so maybe we can have a little study session on the way to ball games this year, lol. I think, like you said, that if you just put everything into God's hands he will take care of you and you will thrive! -Hattie

  2. I feel the same as you do. School makes me very stressed because I'm always worrying about not being good enough. But that's not a very good mindset to have. Anyway, I think that you will do great. You're super smart and a great person, so I have faith you'll do great! On the subject of being stressed, there's a technique that comes in handy that I have learned. I normally use this before a big test or a presentation. Breathe in for 4 seconds, then hold that breath for 7, and exhale for 8 seconds. If needed you can repeat it. It works for me most of the time, hopefully it can help you! -Kim Wilson

  3. Haven, you know me well enough to know that I try not to stress myself out. However, no matter how hard I try sometimes, I find myself worrying about school stuff. I try to remember Matthew 6:34 when I'm in those stressful situations. I even made an entire blog post dedicated to that verse! Jesus is speaking in that verse and tells us not to worry about tomorrow, because each day has enough trouble for itself. I hope that God gives you peace and comfort. Its great that you are pushing yourself and striving for excellence each day. Some simple things you can do each day to reduce stress are: starting your morning off by tidying your room and making your bed, spending time with God at the start of each day, and winding down at night by breathing deeply and reflecting on all of the things that your day has brought you. -- karlee sanders
