I Have a Dream
I Have a
Dream

I have a dream, a dream that one day, my fellow
students will not be judged by the size of their bodies but the joy in their
hearts. That one day, we will see the school’s lunches restored to their former
glory; big fluffy white rolls, crispy normal-sized chicken strips, and the use
of salt. My fellow students, can you remember the time spent in elementary
school? Remember those lunches. It is a
dark time in America indeed when 5 years ago, elementary students got more food
at lunch than today’s high school student!
These scrumptious and filling lunches lasted until about the time I
entered 8th grade. We had already reluctantly accepted the fact that
it was time to go back to school, but at least we would have a good meal. Little
did we students know that a dark cloud of starvation settled upon the schools
of America. An epidemic of ridiculous thinking had spread across the U.S.: “Our
children are all obese! We have to reform our school’s lunches!” And thus, the
reformation started. While we were enjoying our summer, this idea spread across
our great country. The rolls we once enjoyed
had been removed. Not even a grain of salt was left in any cafeteria in the
country. The corrupted government had taken over the lunches in our schools.
This evil had taken away our good lunches, leaving us with the barest amounts
of food for us to survive. The answer to the problem was not less food, but
more healthy food! But they did not see this. We are currently living in this
darkness, my friends. BUT, not all hope is lost. Maybe soon, the governors will
come to their senses and will recognize that what they did was more harm than
good. But, they cannot do this alone. We will have to work together as one and
get our lunches back. This could take time, of course, and we may be out of
school by the time of this glorious restoration of our lunches. But, we will
work; the idea of our children having a decent lunch at school will motivate
us. I bid you stand with me, students of the U.S.A!
Zach Poe-- I totally agree with you Matthew. You were completely right when you said that we should get healthier food instead of just less food.
ReplyDeleteThis is funny, I give you that. I agree with Zach's comment.
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely a one of a kind piece that was very thought out and put together nicely. But I couldn't agree more, Sandbox. We really should have better lunches. -McKenna Beach
