How to: Rainbow 6 Siege - Harrison McCall #11

Warning: How To is a Harrison's guide on how to do something and it does contain personal opinion and bias. Those who have opposing opinions on how to do things should look away now.

Rainbow 6 Siege is a very popular game that pits two teams: attackers and defenders, against each other in a series of different game modes. It is very strategic for a first person shooter and requires teamwork. It spans across 3 platforms: PC, Xbox, and Play Station and, since its release last fall, it has been considered one of the best games in the last year receiving many high ratings and good reviews, as well as receiving many rewards. It has consumed much of my time this summer as it is a very enjoyable game to play, and considering each game is completely different, with new people using different operators it never gets old. That's enough about the game, now here is How To: Rainbow 6 Siege.

First things first, upon buying the game don't buy the season pass, because, in the long run, it becomes essentially useless. Once you have the game you should play around with different operators to see who fits your playing style. The best (in my opinion) are Blackbeard, Thermite, Blitz, and Fuze for the attackers. The first two fit a fast attacking approach of shock and awe, while the other two are slower and more methodical. For the defenders, the best operators to unlock are Frost, Kapkan, Rook, and Castle. The first two set traps, while the other provide support for the entire team. It really isn't a complicated to play just remember the three rules of siege.

Rule 1: As a defender don't roam the map. All you do is split the team up making it weaker if you die, and if you kill an unsuspecting attacker you will seem like a jerk.

Rule 2: As an attacker don't rush into the objective. You will get caught off guard and you will die.

Rule 3: This is by far the most important rule. It matters more than anything else, and will keep you from being hated by your team. Never fuze the hostage.

  1. I have to agree that it is one of the best games on the market for strategic first person shooters. It takes away the craziness of CoD (where all you do is run & gun) and removes the futuristic play style of Halo (it is set in the 2500s so there is some crazy technology). I really like it and if we can get together in a lobby you can put you "How To" to use and teach me how to play it a bit better. Also love the "How To" theme hope to see more like this. Keep up the great writing and have a great school year.
