This past weekend I made a huge decision for myself. I made the decision to go and get vaccinated. My mom and I had talked about getting the vaccine since It came out. It was a big decision that I put a lot of thought into. For me, I decided that It was best if I get it. I just really think it was the most selfless thing to do. Covid 19 is getting bad again, so I wanted to do my part and get my vaccine. My mom is a nurse at St. Benards so honestly just listening to her has really opened my eyes. With covid getting bad again, the hospitals are filling up and they are running out of beds. So many smart doctors are encouraging people to get vaccinated and lots of people still aren't. I really just feel like it's selfish of people that can and just won't. I wanted to get my vaccine to protect people and kids that can’t get it. I also wanted to protect myself against covid itself. Since my mom works in a hospital, It's always a risk that she could bring it home. That is what happened last time. In October, I had covid and It was not a good time for me. I was so sick for a week straight. I could barely get out of bed. I could not keep anything down for like four days straight, so I became really dehydrated. My body ached the whole time which made everything worse. So yeah it really just wasn’t a good time for me. I definitely don’t want to go through any of that again, so I’m hoping the vaccine provides me some more protection from the disease. And if I do end up getting it. I hope it makes my symptoms not as bad as last time. I would highly encourage everyone to really think about getting vaccinated if they aren’t. I want life to go back to normal. I don’t want to keep having to quarantine and I really don't want my two last years of highschool to be taken away by this disease.
I was also hesitant about getting the vaccine but I wanted to do my part in ending all of this chaos. I hope you have a good experience with the vaccine and everything goes smoothly. With covid getting ramped up again, I hope we all do our part and get the vaccine even if you have had covid. My family and I are lucky to not have had covid-19 in the past but we feel a lot safer with the vaccine. I had some minor symptoms but I got over them very quickly. So glad you are getting vaccinated, hope it goes well!

ReplyDeleteI just got my first round of the vaccine today and we have to go back and get the other shot in a couple weeks and I was kind of weary of getting it because of the long term effects it could or could not have because we still kinda don’t know what effect it will have down the road but me and my family got it because school is starting back up and we have not been around a lot of people like we have been in a bubble since quarantine and we just want to help end the chaos.
Hey kaley! Although I don't think I will be getting the Covid vaccination, I see why you would get it. I understand why you got the vaccine. While no one wants to be quarantined, being quarantined during the school year is hard because you can fall behind really easily. Also, with cheer coming up, the last thing you want is to get quarantined right before a big competition. Since when someone gets quarantined we have to redo the whole routine. -Paris McGee 6/11
