One of the Greatest Presidents of America - Jon C. / Post #9

Well, It's that time again, and by that time I mean talking about history once again, for like, the third time. Theodore Teddy Roosevelt was born into a wealthy family in New York City, during the year 1858, which already set him apart from the log cabin type presidents. But his life was not perfect, as he struggled with against poor health, but thankfully he overcame it. Around 1884, Roosevelt's first wife, Alice Lee Roosevelt, and his mother had died. Roosevelt had then spent the next two years of his life on a ranch in the badlands of the Dakota territory, making an honest living. After overcoming the sorrow of his loved ones, he was on a visit to London when he met his second wife, Edith Carow. He then enlisted in the Spanish-American war, as a Lieutenant Colonel of the Rough Rider Regiment, who were essentially the cavalry for nearby allies. Roosevelt was know on the battlefield as a great hero, because even though he was in a position of power and did not need to, he often charged into battle at the sides of his soldiers, making him a great soldier and leader in the eye of his men. After the war, a representative of New York needed to draw attention away from the scandals that were currently happening in New York. The man's name was Thomas C. Platt, and the republican party accepted him to run for president under the republican party, and from there, he won the presidency. From there, Roosevelt was one of the most, shall we say, active president in America's history. From here on it will be fun facts and accomplishments about Theodore Roosevelt, and there are quite a few, so strap in. Roosevelt was the father of the U.S. Navy, as he saw a strategic need after the Panama canal had been formed in South America. Roosevelt and I share the same birthday of October 27th. Roosevelt was the first president to win the Nobel Peace Prize, as when he was president we was often prone to helping other nations with the power that America had at the time. Roosevelt often held boxing matches in the White House, which is what led to go blind in one of his eyes. Here's one I liked, when Roosevelt died died in his sleep, it was often quoted that, "Death had to take Roosevelt sleeping, for if he had been awake, there would have been a fight." Anyways, expect more of these history lessons from me, since my life is so un-interesting. Thank you for reading, and see you later.
