Beth 10 - PT, Memphis, and IKEA Shenanigans

If I'm being completely honest, aside from yesterday's trip and the two evenings that Chandler has been over, most of this week has sucked. I've gone to physical therapy twice (and I'm going again today), and my therapist told me that since I'm a week out of surgery, there's really not much I can do in terms of rehab just yet. I spend most of my sessions doing ankle pumps, heel slides, and leg lifts. Wednesday, they actually had me hooked up to a machine that uses electrical pulses to stimulate muscle contractions since I still can't contract my left quad. It's really frustrating not having control of your own body. Furthermore, I read up on the timeline for recovery from patellar tendon reconstruction, and I probably wont be out of this stupid brace until twelve plus weeks from surgery. Yesterday marked the end of one week; I can't imagine having to wear this thing for another eleven.

Speaking of yesterday, I actually got out of the house for a few hours to go to the cardiologist and then to Memphis. I'm happy to say that I no longer have to go to the cardiologist for my tachycardia. The trip to Memphis was really awesome. We went to Texas de Brazil which is a really nice restaurant where they come around and offer you a variety of meat that they carry on skewers. I really recommend anyone who likes meat go there, especially during lunchtime because it's like half-price. Just after that, we went to IKEA. It was my first time there, and since the store is so large my parents had me get in a wheelchair so I wouldn't have to crutch around the whole place. My dad had a lot of fun pushing me around; he tried to run over my siblings and see how fast the chair could go. By the end of the day, we were all super tired and ready to go home.

All-in-all, it hasn't been the best week, but I shouldn't complain. Recovery isn't easy for anybody, and there are millions of people who have it much worse right now. Anyhow, I'll see y'all soon. School starts back in just a few short weeks ;)

  1. I hated rehab! I always wanted to push my recovery time, and they always slowed me down I thought. In the end they helped me come back stronger than I was before, thankfully my legs are still pretty strong. I have a few times they give out and I have to go easy on it for a week or two. It is not fun, but I have to do what I have to do. My Memphis appointments are always my favorite, we normally eat somewhere good. Texas De Brazil is always amazing. We try to go at least once a year. I have never been to the IKEA store but maybe next time. I am ready for school but totally not. See ya soon! -Tristan #4

  2. I’m glad your recovery is going good. If you need help around school or anything like that when school starts, I’m here to help!! The wheelchair thing sounds pretty dang cool if you ask me. You have me tempted to go a Walmart or something use one of those electronic wheelchair thingys. The meat place you we’re talking about? Texas de Brazil? I’ll have to try that! I hope they have like fries or something like that with the meat though. It sounds good :) Legit I can not wait wait be at school. I’m really ready to see everyone. Hope you continue to recover nicely:) <3

  3. Hey it's Boaty here. Honestly I think you and chandler are the cutest couple. But anyways I am sorry that you had to get surgery, that really sucks right before school. But I'm glad that you are healing well and able to go to physical therapy even if you can't really don anything right now haha. But I'm also glad that you were able to get out of the house for a little bit and spend time with your family because summer is almost over which kind of suck lol. Well I hope you keep healing well and have a fast recovery. See you Tuesday! Alexis Boatman #2
