Now, if you actually took the time to read my most recent two blogs, you probably could have pieced together that something was just a little off. Like my mind wasn't all there that day. If you guessed that then, congrats, you were correct. I stayed up all night long the day I wrote those two blogs to see how it would effect my mental state, and boy, it sure did.
I mean I could barely string together co-horrent sentences, let alone scribble together twelve bullet points for the reading, post three comments, and write 2 whole blog posts. It was wild, I felt like my brain was moving at the speed of a very large tortoise, like I could still think and do things that I could normally do, but just at a slower pace, also my comprehension was slowed as well. It was a crazy intense feeling, because while my brain was running slower, my body felt perfectly fine, and at some points, I had even forgotten that I stayed up all night.
My theory is that when you stay up all night, you body has less, and less energy to work with, causing thought and critical thinking to be turned off, as the body simply cannot handle running all of these things at the same time. When you think about it, it's crazy how intricate the human bodies, like the appendix. The appendix's sole purpose is to store certain types of gut bacteria, and that's not even a definitive answer, scientists aren't even sure that is it's purpose. And since we're talking about the human body, let's talk about the mind, the sole thing that allows us to control our bodies, and the organ that allows us to think. With out the brain, we would simply be another animal in the food chain, but with it, we dominate every other animal on this planet. An even crazier thing would be dreams, what the heck even are dreams? Anyways, I've strayed too fair from the original topic so I think I will just conclude this post for today, I'm gonna try to post one day a week so I can finish this thing for good. This has been Jon C..
Hey Jon! I really enjoyed your blog this week a whole lot. I really like how you stated everything as well. I also like to stay up for a while but I never thought about the negative effects it has on my body, and I feel like you helped me see that staying up is terrible for the human body. I can't believe you stayed up for that long though, that's definitely something I couldn't have done lol. I had no idea that sleep really had that much of an effect on the brain itself. Altogether, I enjoyed your blog for the week and I hope you get some sleep haha. emily fitzgerald 7/11

ReplyDeleteWell Jon you pretty much summed me up all in one. I have been staying up way to late and way too often. I try to not think of the negative effects, because there are plenty. I stay up, not on purpose it just happens. My brain is also as slow as a tortoise, but at the same time a roller coaster. It goes slow when I need it to do something and a thousand miles when I’m just trying to relax. I guess that’s one of the great traits of an over thinker. I literally second guess everything I do.
