This is the second blog post out of eight about my family's vacation in June. We ended the last post about stopping to get a hotel in Houston, Texas. I will now pick up where I left off. That next morning we left Houston and headed to San Antonio. It was about a 4 hour and 30 minute drive with traffic and bathroom breaks. When we arrived in San Antonio we first stopped to grab a bite to eat. We found a unique BBQ restaurant. The front was decorated with old gas pumps, soda machines, oil machines, etc. the inside was like a cafeteria style buffet or you could order your own food. After we left there we went to visit an Aunt I have that lives there. We spent about 6 hours at her house catching up and then we headed out for the famous River Walk. We ended up making a slight detour and went to a soldier cemetery where each and every grave was the same. We went to see my uncle's grave. We then continued onto the river and rode a boat through the middle. My family walked around for a bit and then decided to call it a night. We got a really nice hotel with a good view and grabbed some supper and headed up for bed. When we woke up the next morning we headed out for New Mexico. I’m not sure if any of you guys have ever been out that way but it is a lot of driving in the middle of nowhere with no cell service and gas stations only every couple of hours. We found a gas station and stopped for a break, well in the process the keys got locked inside of the van and the closest locksmith was 4 hours away. This of course sent my whole family into a panic because there we were in the middle of nowhere without any way to get inside of our car and we were on a deadline.
