Umm I guess I'm stealing Caiden's material for this week since
1. I am behind on topics
B. VBS is a super common thing
This week I had the honor to be in charge of the game portion for my church. I have never done it before and I was super nervous but don't tell anyone lol. It went as smoothly as a couple teenagers could do with one day to plan all of it. It should not have surprised me with how different every group was but it did. They all had different energy levels and the will to make the games more than just the instructions given. I mean you can make something only as fun as you want it to be and that really showed. There was this kindergartener that would always try to out sass me one minute then try to be my best friend the next. I never knew what to expect by the end of the night.
With our theme being how we are God's most treasured possessions we had this skit or short play that I had to be a part of. I was some explorer's daughter or something. Long story short I never knew my lines since I was always more worried about the game for that night. So I guess actor can be marked off the list for potential careers. I am also not a great person to "pie". Some youth kids and I got volunteered to get whipped cream smashed into our faces and ya girl forgot to breathe beforehand. Highly recommending breathing whenever something is getting smashed into your face if possible.
I also saw Larkin's post about how our lives do not always have to be the topic but I figured VBS is always a solid choice with summer writing assignments or I did not see it before writing this and I'm too far ahead to turn back now. You decide which one you believe. But maybe next week I will inform you about something super random or about the wonderful experience of going to girls' camp. I go as a counselor every year. Always a fun time and never any signal when needed.
Well until next time.

ReplyDeleteHi Hailey! I really enjoyed your blog this week and I'm so happy that you had an amazing time at VBS! You always seem to make me interested in what you write about, which is so great. Girls camp sounds so much fun. It's so amazing to see about peoples week and getting to learn about a person more and more. I truly hope you like blogging as much as I do haha! I really hope that you contuine to have more amazing weeks and weekends like I do. I also hope that you are enjoying your summer. I cannot wait to read your next blog post:) -5/11

ReplyDeleteOkay first why was I not informed you got pied in the face. I would have showed up for that. But I’m glad you had fun. I helped with my church this year too. It was something. The kids would go from completely still one moment to them jumping up and down. I didn’t help with games but I walked around with the little kids. It was still kinda weird, because I’m not really crazy close with anyone besides my family, but it was fun overall. Levi had a great time and got to see friends from his tee ball team and that's all I needed.
I think you did pretty well for your first time host the games for your VBS groups, Hailey. I tell you what though, this one time, I had to host a limbo competition for the library in lake City. It was kind of a bust though, apparently people don't know how to bend their backs backward, so the lankiest guy at the competition had to end up winning, and I bet that you can't guess who I'm referring too. Anyways, pie in the face was probably a better idea than limbo, so I'll shut my mouth now. Jon C. - 5/11

ReplyDeleteOkay but did anyone video you getting pied in the face? I think that is something we all needed to see for ourselves! VBS is always one of my favorite times of the summer seeing kids get to have fun and learn about the Lord. What could be better? It sounds like you did really well being in charge of the games, especially with the time you had to prepare. I am sure all the kids had a blast. As for that 6th grader I am sure they thought you were really cool but did not want you to know that. I hope that all of VBS was a success and that you enjoyed your week at church camp!
