school -Faith Brooks(22!!!!)

I used to dread going to school when I first started public school. The 4th and 5th grades were the worst. Trying to make friends, getting used to teachers, getting involved in silly drama with classmates(most of which are now my friends)... all of it was pretty awful. Things started getting better in the 6th grade. I slimmed up a little(not much, but I take what I can get), got a hair cut, started wearing clothes that fit me, and I even got a boyfriend. The 7th grade wasn't the worst experience. There were lots of new people from Lake City who I'd never met and lots of new classes. My least favorite thing about the 7th grade was either trying to get from one end of the school to the other in 5 minutes(which seemed like 2 seconds) or P.E. Walking is fine. Stretching is fine. Playing knockout is fine. Team games where I have to have at least SOME skill or I'll be completely humiliated? Not fine. Anyways, now on to the 8th grade. I didn't cheer. Pre-Algebra kicked my butt. I wasn't liked by a lot of people. Too much drama. I wasn't a big fan of my 8th grade year, so I'll just stop there. Now, here comes the game-changer: my 9th grade year. The Junior High cheer squad was better than the Senior High squad, I made up with most of the people I had problems with, Geometry with Ms. Lindsey was actually fun(I, along with the rest of the Riverside student body, dearly miss Ms. Lindsey), I had a lot of friends, things were great. The 9th grade was exciting, filled with big opportunities, and created so much anticipation for my first year in senior high: the 10th grade. Last year was my sophomore year and it didn't disappoint. I had so many great new teachers, tons of different electives to choose from, clubs galore, and lots of self-discovery. Last year, I got to research colleges and careers I would love. I got to have every class with my bestfriend and my boyfriend. I got to experience what it's like to be treated as an adult instead of a child. I will never forget my sophomore year, and I hope I'll be able to say the same after my junior & senior years. I'm really looking forward to all the classes I signed up for and for more college-searching, and personally, I can't wait for school to start.

  1. I personally hated school all but last year. I felt liked I belonged most of the time, but at other times I did feel alone. Now that it's summer I wish I wouldn't have decided to graduate early so it wouldn't be so stressful. I'm glad you finally like school and are treated as an adult. I wish I can stay full term again. I'm gonna miss Riverside so much after next year. Looking back from ancouplenofnmonths ago, I still have no idea why I wanted to graduate early. I guess because I wanted to hurry up and save up for college and get out of the house. All I know is after next year, my life is going to change drastically after next year and I'm personally not ready for it. -Angel Cash

  2. faith, it seems like i always choose your posts to comment on. im so happy that you joined public school, because if you hadn't, we probably wouldn't even know each other. that would be awful. i've had a love/hate relationship with school all of my life. i hate the fact that i'm actually forced to do work, but i love learning new things. its kinda weird. anyways, i'm very thankful for school and the opportunity to get an education. i've made so many memories at riverside, and it will always be a big part of my life. and like i said before, school has helped me meet a lot of people who have become my friends! i hope that even after we all graduate and start doing our own things, that we will all remain close and stay in touch. like you, i'm ready for school to start, too! --karlee sanders

  3. Hey Faith, it's your brown bestie. I'm really glad you got into public school of we probably would have never been such good friends. When I was younger, I always loved school and was eager to go back every summer. That's changed over the past years. It's just so stressful and drama-filled and hard. I don't actually mind the learning part. On the other hand, seeing all of my friends every day help the stress and pressure of school. I love how you're so positive and ready to go back to school and I hope we all have a great year because they're going by fast!!

  4. I agree with Matty, I love the positivity in this. And the years are definitely flying by, it seems like just yesterday the only worry we had as kids was how close it was to recess time. I didn't have a very good time in some of my younger grades either but I have enjoyed high school a lot. I am so ready to be a junior. I also can't wait for school to start back, and not to mention cheerleading this year! I enjoyed reading this blog very much. I felt like I could relate. I'm nervous for the year but a good nervous. I also hope this year will be great for everybody! Great job Faith!! --Jo Baker-21!!!
