On June tenth two-thousand fourteen I traveled out of the United States for the very first time. I was a very lucky thirteen year old to get to fly out of the country when I was just a teenager. Most people don't get to travel out of the country until they are grown or sometimes not at all. But God had other plans for me.
I decided that I was going to go over to the little town that my aunt and uncle lived at. My aunt and uncle lived in the Outback. Where you would see all kinds of different animals just randomly roaming around. You would see a lot of kangaroos all of the time just roaming and hopping around.
Now, the reason I went over there, I went over there because I felt like God was calling me to go help them build a church camp. I helped them build benches, make signs that have verses on it for the trail, we did all kind of things. We also lead songs and motions to kids that were at the church.
For fun we went to a zoo. Now this zoo is not just like any zoo. This zoo there are kangaroos just randomly hoping around the whole place. There is a special place that you can go into to pet kangaroos and ostriches. They didn't have there animals in small cages, they had them in the open. It was a really cool experience to get to go see a different type of zoo.
I was so glad that God allowed my family to financially support me going to Australia. The plain tickets were extremely expensive, and everything down there cost a lot more than it does down here in the Lake City. It was a great experience to get to go and see what a different country lived like. I'm blessed that God called me to go down there to experience different things and help him build a camp for kids that are lost.
Unfortunately, God called my aunt and uncle back to the United States and the camp did not get to open and function like they planed on it. But God has different plans for them, and they will follow what he wants for them.
Wesley, I think that it is so cool that you got to go to Australia! I have always wanted to go there. I want to go and see kangaroos in person, plus going out of the country would be cool. Plus I think Australian accents neat to listen too. I bet it was a really good experience and I bet you really enjoyed it up there. But I bet the jet lag was awful lol The zoo sounds like it was really fun and I think it's cool that you went up there to do missionary type work. I admire when people do things like that. -Ambria Curtis
