-----Grant Smith #5 Baseball Workouts
As many of you know, Coach Hogard has come back to Riverside. I have missed him very much, but I have not missed his workouts. Coach Hogards workouts are the closest thing to hell on earth...at 6 in the morning. From core, to arms and legs, he is the most tasking person to work out with. His workouts are not only painful, but they are nonstop. They never contain breaks because conditioning without breaks does twice the amount of effectiveness. But thankfully, this summer, we only had arm workouts on the field. Arm workouts are basically just hour long workouts that get your throwing arm stronger for baseball. Throwing long distances was a tool that we used to make our arms become stronger and more powerful. Throwing far distances and doing arm bands strengthen all of the smaller muscles in your arm. Throwing hard isn't just about how strong you are, it requires correct form to create momentum behind the ball. I went from throwing 65 mph, to 71 mph, in just two weeks. Baseball is one of those sports that you just have to have consistency with, and there has to be a lot of consistency if you want to throw a baseball hard and far. From arm bands, to arm lifting, we made the most out of our strength. Coach Hogard and Coach Mully are the most hardest working coaches in the state because they spent so much of their free time with us players this summer and training us to get our throwing arms stronger. While they could've been doing something enjoyable with their time, they decided to make all of us better players at the sport of baseball. Sometimes thats what it takes to get better. Sometimes you have to put aside your spare time and use it to get better at something. I hope to see that our arms make a difference in the next baseball season. Maybe we can pull off a couple more dubs and make it to state once again.

How's it going, Grant?! I said in one of my other comment posts that I was going to start out every comment the same way with, "What is up, *insert name*?!" I kind of decided not to do that anymore. I see you're talking about Coach Hogard's workout routines. I don't really know if I have the right to call him Coach but it'll be fine just for this blog. I'm kind of basically almost done with this comment, haha. I hope the workouts get easier or your body just gets used to them. I'll see you tomorrow! Bye now!
