You’re Disrupting My Moodboard - #10 - Vin Boyd

Aesthetic is the easy word to describe anything that is symbolic of a pleasant and inspirational feeling. As an example, my aesthetic could be apple cores, Vincent van Gogh’s “Wheat Field,” and horses. Of course, unless I’m a horse girl, it’s not that.
My aesthetic, on one note, consists of biology  textbooks. Seeing black and white diagrams of dissected plants and animals and cells and reproductive organs gives me joy. It plucks at my heartstrings. Recently, I tore up some said biology books and slapped the pages onto my wall as a sort of collage. It makes me happy. It gives me simple joy.
Other pieces of imagery that give me reasons to go on are Greek sculptures. It’s not just the beautiful sculpting of naked bodies, it’s also compromised of the extreme understanding of anatomy, gravity, and reality. The way Ancient Greek sculptures are made is a highlight on what deserves to be sculpted. Our beauty standards don’t at all live up to the naturally beautiful people of our past. It makes me sad.
Along with beauty, sculptures for me signify the ability to understand the world around you. The substance of cloths and sheets and posing makes sculptures feel true and real. For me, it makes things feel a lot less worrisome. I’m able to gaze at a sculpture and feel the anxiety stream down the drain.
Another aesthetically pleasing sight to me is orange. The color, the taste, the imagery. I make collages of orange things from my childhood because it takes me back in time. Orange legos, cheap tasting orange suckers, gummy bears, Skittles, M&M’s, foxes, goldfish. I can easily say it’s one of my favorite colors.
Another pleasure of mine derived from plants. Simple nature. In my room, I have over a dozen houseplants that refuel my inspiration. I strive to have dozens more. Stepping out into nature throws me into a state of mind that’s focused entirely on serenity and peaceful behavior.
An aesthetic can be anything for anyone. It’s limitless. And any person could have dozens of things that bring them the euphoria that aesthetics provide.

  1. After taking a break for a while from writing comments, I am happy to come back and see a new post from you. You have used these blogs in a better way than many of us other people have. We simply write about things that happened in our days or random things that do not matter much. It is really fun to read your blogs because they are so different from the rest. I love this topic you chose and hearing about your aesthetic. I noticed the new papers on your wall in a streak you sent recently on snapchat. I love your decorative skills and how you bring out yourself in them. I also love your plants and your love for the plants. You are an amazing plant mom and I hope you get your room looking like a jungle soon. -Victoria #9
