-----Grant Smith #6 Working In Summer

Other than spending time at the lake and going to basketball and baseball, I have been working. Working like an absolute dog.Spending the long, hard, and hot days in the baking sun. I work for my dad and I scout crop fields. I basically go into crops like cotton, peanuts, and soybeans to make sure nothing is wrong and that the crop is healthy. A lot more goes into it, but you catch my drift. I love the job other than it becomes mediocre after the first two weeks of summer. It pays well though so I have money to blow on the weekends. Just like every other job, it requires dedication. There is no one that puts more dedication into this job like my dad. He is completely honest one hundred percent of the time and works hard until the job gets done. I can only hope to one day be the hard worker he is now. This summer I realized at work that I've only got 2 more years left of high schol. I need to be thinking about what I want to do and who I may want to work for in the future. Will I work for a company? Will I work for my own business? Will I somehow become rich and famous between now and then? Probably so. It made me think of how serious things become when you suddenly realize you're about to be an adult and what Mrs.Larkin would call ,"almost grown."I don't want to grow up ,but at the same time, I do. I want to build a mansion one day, but I don't want to have to work for that. You know what I mean? One thing that we will jut have to live with is the fact that you can't stop time. We will always be growing up no matter how young or old we are. So brace for it and get ready. Plan ahead and make big dreams and goals. That's the best thing we can do while we wait to become rich and famous and build a huge mansion...I hope.
