America's Birthday -Faith Brooks(17)

The 4th has always been a holiday that my family & I have loved to celebrate. Yesterday was a really long but fun day, so here's what went down:
First, my mom got me and my brother up so we could get dressed to go outside and watch the parade. I've only been in the parade once or twice with friends, but I like watching it better than being in it, so that's fine by me. After the parade, we went back inside and I attempted to ice a cake I made the previous night with a recipe off of Facebook. It turned out cool on the inside because it was marbled red white and blue, but when I tried to take it out of the pan, it was a disaster. One of the cakes broke in half and the middle of the other one stuck to the pan(it was a layer cake so I had to make two circular cakes). After my beautiful cakes fell apart, I just stood there and stared at them, trying to figure out how to make them look good enough to bring to a pool party we were going to a couple hours after that. I decided to just stack them on top of eachother, try to make them stay together, and ice them. While icing them with two big things of cream cheese icing, the cake decided to be dumb and continue to fall apart(technically, I was the dumb one for not putting more stuff on the pans so they wouldn't stick, but I'm gonna blame the cakes to make myself feel better). In the end, I crumbled red and blue cupcakes on top of the cake and it looked okay-ish, but I still decided to leave it at home. After I put my cake catastrophe aside, I got my stuff and we all left to go to the pool party at our family friends' house. There, we swam, got bored, went to the park celebration thing, got snowcones, and ate. The rest of the day consisted of watching the adults play games, on-and-off raining, then finally going back to my house with my family and Dillon. Once we got there, we started our fireworks, then we headed to the Caraway ballpark to watch the city's fireworks. Overall, it was a pretty good day.
