number two
Greeting and salutations, my name is Madison Nichole Lowery. My friends call me Mandy, Matty B, Marnee, and Mattie. Let's start from the beginning, shall we?
March 24, 2000 I was born on this day, so I'm obviously sixteen right now. My mom is white and my dad is black, so that makes me brown (but shouldn't it be gray?) I lived with my birth mom, then a lady who worked with my grandma started babysitting me. The lady that babysat me became my grandma. I called her Mamaw. I started living with her not too long after I was born. Up until I was three, I lived with Mamaw. Then, I decided to live with one of her daughters, Shelia. I've lived with her and Robert ever since, but I call them mom and dad. When I was about 8, I got adopted by them. Before then, they were my "legal guardians".
I have one full sister. Her name is Macaylie. My half sisters names are Taliah and Tiarah. Everyone tells me that I have at least 15 or 20 more half siblings (because my dad has no other hobbies apparently). My adoptive brother's name is Brandon.
I've gone to Riverside since Kindergarten. We used to live in Jonesboro when I went to Pre-school, but we moved to Lake City before I started Kindergarten.
I have some really great friends that I've known for quite a while now. I remember when me, Karlee, Haven, Hattie, Sam and Austin would play on the merry-go-round and scream "faster, faster! we need another master!" at each other.
Some more of my close friends I came to know later in life. I met Sydney, Shailey, and Faith in seventh grade when we all came together for junior high. Ever since, we've all been best friends. God has blessed me with so many inseparable friendships and I am so thankful for that because sometimes I feel like I can't do life without them by my side, telling me I can do it. Long story short, my name is Mattie and I have a great family and cool friends that I love a lot.
It seems like so long ago that we were on that merry-go-round chanting and laughing at each other. We had so many good times. I will never forget the hotel trips we made on your birthday. We must have watched every shark movie that exists. Say hi to Kevin S. for me.;) I also remember every trip to the fair that we made. It took us awhile to actually ride the big kid rides, but we still had so much fun. Those were some of the best times of my life. I am so happy that our friendship as endured. -Hattie
ReplyDeleteMattie, you're pretty cool, I guess. Some might even call you a "star student". I always giggle when I think about the chant we used to say around the merry go round, as you mentioned. "Faster, Faster! We need another master!" Like what in the world is that supposed to mean? Were we trying to find someone to rule over us all as the next playground master? I don't understand it at all, but it makes me laugh every time that I think about it. Like Hattie said, I remember all of the fun times we had together when we were little. The times I remember the most were playing on the playground, going to hotels for your birthday (and for other people's birthdays), and going to the fair. We used to run around like idiots on the fairgrounds saying "Jellyfish, Jellyfish, Jellyfish!" over and over for no reason. Those were the days and I'm out of words. Peace out. --karlee sanders
ReplyDeleteMattie, I had no idea you were adopted at the age of eight. Thank you for sharing that piece of information with everyone. I have a brother also. He, just like your full sister. He is my full brother. What is it like to have fifteen to twenty more half siblings? That is so funny you, Karlee Sanders, Haven Robertson, Hattie Milligan, Sam Lyles, and Austin Smith would be on the merry go round saying “faster, faster, we need another master.” It rhymes perfectly. I am very glad to hear God blesses you some amazing people that you call friends. - whitney
