Blog two- makayla norvell

I am very accident prone. Don’t get me wrong, everyone has there occasional “down day” where they may drop things or bump into counters, but mine stray from your average case of the dropsies. For example, most of these accidents occur from my stubborn teenage brain thinking, “Now there is absolutely no way I could possibly get hurt doing this, people on tv do it all the time. Just look at Oprah”, and about three seconds later I was thrown off  of my mountain bike and into a tree; Which thankfully did not do more damage than a few bruised ribs and a wounded ego. Another fine example would be the time where I attempted to ride down an extremely strong set of waterfalls rapids with nothing more than a smile and chanel No.5, which ended in my sister almost drowning and a fun story to bring up whenever people talk about the stupid things that they have done, or that involve near death experiences and water.

As hysterical as the stories from my  numerous lapses in judgement can get, I am glad that I am not the only person plagued by the rose colored lenses that allow you to lose sanity just long enough to get in the tank with a shark. I am sure one day I will end up taking my stunts far past the point of no return and end up in a full body cast, with an interesting scar, or should I get lucky, on the news in a high speed helicopter pursuit down the old I-40. And as for ever maturing enough to make smart decisions, I do not think I ever will. My bad decisions keep life interesting but the numerous reality checks I get after being to badly injured sit with me later and cause me to kick myself over how foolish I could be and let my cluelessness put me in harms way. Sadly it is the way of teenagers to put pride and excitement of their personal well being and will continue to be that way until the end of days.
