blog two makyla norvell

  1. Over the summer i was asked to attend a special even by a female friend of out family called lugnasad. Lugnasad (also called lammas or lammas day) is the wiccan/pagan holiday celebrating the first real harvest of the year. I had been meaning to check out the cultural diversity in the local area anyway, so i decided to agree and went with my sisters, aunt, and grandmother to attend the event. When we first got there i said hello to the person who invited us before my sister and i took our bikes off the bike racks on the back of our jeeps with the intention to go bike riding (but that’s all i’ll say about that because i plan on going in to further detail about that little romp through the woods in a later blog post). When we were done in the woods my sister had managed to get herself hurt by acting like a cocky idiot so she had to leave early so my aunt, grandmother, and younger sister could go with her to the emergency room. I chose to stay at the event to see the ritual that would go on later that night. I was far too curious to let my sister’s accident ruin the day for me (she brought the whole thing on herself, believe me). After they left i spend the next few hours or so walking the area near by next to a huge lake on my own, since i didn’t really know any of the people there outside of the person who invited us. I played in the water a bit and watched the kind of pathetic waves push against the boat dock before i got bored and decided to go back to the event, where i meant one or two other teens that were there. We had a good time teasing one another and talking back and forth about nothing in particular really until the ritual started. Once it started we walked down to the fire pit to watch ritual. I was kinda sad when it was over because i was having fun, but when it came time to leave i reluctantly said goodbye and went home, and that’s that.
