Compliments that aren't about looks - Shailey Wooldridge

I was just thinking about how almost every time you get a compliment it's about your physical appearance and I got kind of sad and thought that our looks shouldn't be held to the most valued quality about ourselves although a lot of the time it is. Beauty isn't only skin deep so I made list of compliments you can give someone that aren't about your looks, but I guess you've already gathered that much so I'll shut up now!!!!

  3. I love how gentle you are (I got this recently and I'm still smiling)
  4. You're such a sweet person
  5. I love your voice
  6. Your laugh is contagious
  7. You are great at ___
  8. You are so good with ___
  9. You're pretty awesome

  11. I bet you could work a visor
  12. I hope you're around for a long time
  13. My mom likes you
  14. I would trust you with my will
  15. If I ever wrote a book you would be in it
  16. You don't make me want to drop dead when you talk about politics
  17. You have a great taste in music
  18. I would raise a puppy with you
  19. You're really fun/easy to talk to
  20. I love your sense of humor

  22. I  bet you're great at hide and go seek

    I really like this post, Shay! I agree with you that its really sad that most compliments are about physical appearance. I think there is a lot of value in compliments that aren't about physical appearance, as well. I posted a picture on instagram not too long ago that had some interesting ones on it, so I'll share few with you.
    -you're empowering
    -I never thought fanny packs would look so cool until you
    -you're strong
    -I'm so happy you exist
    -its nice to see such kindness
    -I hope we know each other for a long time
    -I bet that if Britney Spears knew you, 2007 would have went a lot different for her
    -I would trust you with all my passwords
    -you call your grandma the exact right amount
    -you inspire me to be a better person
    -your ideas matter
    -you're so fun to talk to
    - I bet you're amazing at chess

    This made me so happy. I really like that last one where you said," I bet if you were a character on Greys Anatomy you would die." I am still laughing about it. I also like the one that says,"I can tell you love Jesus." That is pretty much the ultimate goal of people that follow Jesus. Anyways, I think you are right about compliments. People only compliment other people's physical appearance. I mean those compliments are always nice, but it always makes me happier when people comment on intelligence or something else. Those compliments have a better quality. -Hattie

    I love all of these compliments not about looks! There are so many compliments people could give about you. Most of the time they are just about looks but when they're not its great. When people comment just on looks it shows how much they don't know you. These compliments are some I think people should use and see, what kinds of reactions they get. People would be surprised at their new compliments. Good job Shailey on coming up with all these great creative compliments!
