God's Masterpiece - Kim Wilson (18)

(I write too many of these, but oh well.)

In today's society, there is a lot of pressure on young girls to look a certain way. We have to have the right hair length, the acceptable amount of makeup, and we have to be the right size. Many people, like me, don't wear makeup and are labeled as "lazy" and that we "don't care enough." I have decided that I'm not going to let society tell me how I'm supposed to look. I'm perfectly content with sticking to my skirt, long hair, and makeup-free face instead of the standards of today. You girls should feel the same way about yourself. You don't need to look like what everyone thinks you should look like. Why? Because we are God's masterpiece, each and every one of us.

"For we are God's masterpiece..." Ephesians 2:10

Now this is really hard for me to believe. Many times I feel myself thinking I am far from being a masterpiece. I feel like I'm not pretty enough, smart enough, or nice enough. We all have insecurities, but we're all a masterpiece. 2 Timothy 3:16 (NLT) says: "All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true..."
Now, if we listen to what that verse says, it means ALL scripture is inspired by God and teaches us what is true. That means that all of the Bible is God's word and all of it is true. With that in mind, that means Ephesians 2:10 is true. We were all crafted by God and He believes that we are beautiful. So whenever you're looking in the mirror and feel bad about yourself, not judging I do this as well, think about how God made you how you are and you are His masterpiece.

If you're like me and you need constant reminders, here are more bible verses about beauty that I think will really help one the days you insecure.

•Psalm 139:14 (NIV)
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”

•Song of Songs 4:7 (NIV)
“You are altogether beautiful, my darling; there is no flaw in you.”

•Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NIV)
“He has made everything beautiful in its time.”

  1. I love this, Kimiko! You're so amazing at everything you do! You nearly made me cry when I read this! Oh, and a verse about judging others is Ecclesiastes 11:5, "Just as you do not know the path of the wind and how bones are formed in the womb of the pregnant woman, so you do not know the activity of God who makes all things." This is my favorite verse out of the Bible, and I think it applies to your beauty topic well. It's basically saying "Don't judge them; they are beautiful because God made them" and I think it's great! - Brittany Tucker

  2. I will try not to rant on this one and just appreciate the post. Keep in mind I said try. I love every aspect about this post from the deceleration that the Bible is the divinely inspired word of God to the unwillingness to conform to society's guidelines, but instead following God's guidelines. For anyone to see themselves less than what they are is sad. I agree that society definitely doesn't help in that regard. I'm going to stop myself here before I really start ranting.
