A pun; a joke exploiting the different possible meanings of a word, or the fact that words can sound alike and have different meanings.
I really love puns, and to make them. A lot of my friends get very annoyed at me for using them. I started to just make this entire entry full of puns, but I thought better of it. I made an entire band speech full of band puns once. Everyone cracked up, but I think on the inside they were cringing.
"You haven't {clairiment} the real me yet.
The seniors are now {gong} and everything is taking a {key change}
{Snare} me a moment, and excuse my {accent}.
Not that I {wood block} the other's votes, but their ideas and seem to {B flat}
I'm just {conducting} my ambitions in promise to keep us out of {treble}.
This speech may have been a {crash}, but let's {band} together, take a {stand} and make the best choice possible"
It's nearly imPASTAble for me to go a day without making a joke.
I don't know what it is about puns, or just really corny jokes; but it's really amusing.
I learned that even my last name could be used a pun over the years.
My kindergarten teacher continually told me to "set my PACE"
And even this year Matthew Sanders decided to tell me to "pick up the PACE" on a test I didn't do so well on.
I really enjoy making people, laugh, smile and feel good about themselves.
through really corny, stupid jokes I seem to succeed the majority of the time, and sometimes my friends just give me the "look" and I know when I've gone too far.
You know, I like to make puns too. Especially about cleaning products. I guess it just didn't DAWN on me that you were so good with puns. There is so much PRIDE in puns because most people can't think of them so quickly. Doesn't it bring you so much JOY? I guess my pun game is going DOWNy... I'm just all TIDE up. -Angel Cash

ReplyDeleteBethany, I remember the day you made this speech full of puns! I thought it was so funny and no one could not laugh. You are very good at making pun jokes, some people may find them annoying, but I like them. I could have never came up with a speech about band that actually made sense and flowed, using puns. So even if your friends tell you they are annoying, you push through and keep making pun jokes :) Good job Bethany on your speech!
