VBS is short Vacation Bible School. When I was little, every year I got the opportunity to get to go to Vacation Bible School at my church in Lake city. I always had a really fun time learning and worshiping God there. Vacation Bible School is also the place I dedicated my life to Jesus when I was about seven years old I believe. There were always such cool things to do there. There were always so many things to do there. Now every since I have been in youth, I have always got to help kids get to experience the fun that I got to have at Vacation Bible School. I have been doing it for about five years now and it is always a blessing to get to do it.
This years Vacation Bible School was from Sunday to Thursday of this week. This year for the very first time I was a tour guide. I got signed up for First and Second graders. I had all of the guys in my group. Some of the days I would have three kids and some of the days I would have ten kids just for me to watch. My kids always had fun going to the different stations that our church had set up for them to go to. Our first stop was always story time. At story time you got to hear about real events that have happened in the bible. Second stop was games. This was always my kids favorite thing to do. Third stop was KidVid. At KidVid you got to watch a kid do a random act of kindness or do different things in it. Fourth stop was snacks. This was another one of the favorites that my kids liked. Last stop was imagination station. You got to do experiments, make things, and do all kinds of different things.
On Wednesday night, it what we call salvation night. It's when the kids hear why Jesus died on the cross for us and true things about Jesus. And when the story is over we prayed over the kids and we ask them if anyone felt a calling to accept Christ into their heart. Just in my boys group, all 6 of my kids that night went. It was a true blessing to get to see that.
If you ever get the chance to do Vacation Bible School, you really should. It is a true blessing.
Hey Wesley. I totally agree with everything you said. I always loved Vacation Bible School when I was younger. I think it's great that kids all over the community get to come together to learn about how great our God is and how he works in our lives. I'm glad you had a great experience at VBS. I think it's cool how you're so involved with your church and it sounds like you really care about all the kids. My church has VBS next week and hopefully ours will go as well as yours did! Good work, Wes :-)

Wesley! I also agree with everything both you and Matty b. have said. It sounds amazing what you got to witness. It's indescribable getting to see people accept Christ into their lives. I bet it was really amazing getting to witness young children getting to do this. I think everybody should try to teach their young as much as they can about Jesus so they can start living for Christ at a young age and get to learn. It sounds like you did an exceptional job with your group of kids. Not to mention you taking your own time to help with this program. Great job!! --Jo Baker-12
ReplyDeleteI think that it is so great that you got to watch your kids grow over the week. VBS always reaps so many benefits. Kids that might not ever get to go to church get to come and listen to stories about God. I was also a huge fan of VBS when I was little. I remember always looking forward to it. VBS at my church actually starts this Wednesday. I don't know what I am assigned to do, but whatever it is I pray that it goes well. Hopefully, we will have kids dedicate their lives to Christ too! -Hattie
