College - Faith Brooks(1)

Stress is a major factor of highschool. Grades, people, appearances, homework, ACT scores, tests, etc. One of the most stressful things Juniors and Seniors have to face is finding a college. There's a million things to consider when choosing a college, such as the acceptance rate, tuition costs, where your friends are going, etc. For me, the hardest thing to think about is not seeing my friends every day like I usually do. I know a couple of my closest friends plan on moving off to better places(I don't blame them at all), and it's going to be hard to not be able to see them or hang out with them all the time.
Right now, I want to apply to the University of Arkansas and the University of Florida. I don't have very high expectations for Florida because they have a 47.1% acceptance rate, but applying won't hurt. The University of Arkansas' acceptance rate is 58.6% which is only about 11% higher, but it's still more promising because I won't have to pay out-of-state tuition costs like I would have to if I attended U of F. I want to go to U of A because it seems like the easier choice. Less money, closer, no moving or long drive, I'll be close to home, etc; however, if the acceptance rate wasn't so low for the U of F, I would choose it over Arkansas in a heartbeat. My grandparents, aunt and cousins all live in Florida, so I would be able to see them more, it would be more exciting because of the attractions and unknown territory, and my parents want to move to Florida after my brother and I graduate, so U of F definitely has its benefits. But, there's still the money and the 52.9% chance that i won't get accepted.
I still don't know what I'm going to do with my life. I have no idea what my future will consist of. I don't know if I'll have the same friends due to distance. All of it is terrifying, but it's all in God's plan, so as long as I have my faith and trust in Him, I know my future will be good and exactly what it's supposed to be.

  1. Faith, I think that it is cool that you are considering the school University of Arkansas and the University of Florida. I think that if you set your mind to going to these places that you will. I honestly don't know exactly what I want to do with life yet either. I want to say that I have it all planned out but I'm sure ill change my mind in the next two years. I agree that it is terrifying. But like you said it is all Gods plan and he'll take care of you.

  2. You are going to move away to a different place than I am going to move away to and I am going to kick your tush. I don't know where I'm going yet but there's a good bet it'll be in Nashville, Oregon or Missouri or something like that. This saddens me because none of those places are listed in this article. We are going to do very cool and awesome and great things in our lives, I just hope God puts us in the same place because I haven't got the energy or desire to make another friend. ok thanks. good article, toodaloo. -Sydney Adams

  3. College is very stressful and important decisions that will have a lasting impact on your life. Not seeing you is going to be rough, but I hope I will be able to say that at least your happy and furthering yourself with a quality education. College is going to be a drastic change where ever you go. I hope you make it a wonderful adventure and enjoy it as much as possible. If you work hard and stay determined, then you are bound to get into U of F. even if you don't, there are plenty of colleges in Florida that would be lucky to have you.
