TURTLE CREEK IS UNFAIR! SECURITY GUARDS ARE IN THERE! STANDING AT THE CONCESSION! PLOTTING THEIR OPPRESSION! -- Karlee Sanders

Did you know that if you’re doing a scavenger hunt in the Turtle Creek Mall with your friends, you’re breaking the rules? Because I sure didn’t. So listen up here, buddy boy, because I have a story to tell. I went to Jonesboro on the fine day of June the eighteenth in the year of two thousand and sixteen. (Yes, I just spelled out the date. Do you have a problem with that? No? Didn’t think so, pal.) I was with my very close friends Sydney, Mattie, and Sam. Oh, and Larry. Anyways, we had a scavenger hunt in Target and had a lot of fun. I was on a team with Mattie and Sam. Unfortunately, we lost miserably to Sydney and Larry. We decided it would be more fair to split the victorious power couple up as team captains, so I ended up on a team with Larry. We also decided that since we had already done a scavenger hunt in Target, that we should choose a different list to play by, and that we should move into the mall. Well, let me tell you something. We obviously made the wrong choice. Larry and I set off to complete the hunt before Mattie, Sam, and Sydney could. We were doing a fantastic job of getting the list completed. We took many glorious selfies to prove that we found what the list was asking for. This is where things started to get hairy. One of the things we had to do was to take a picture with a security guard. When you hear the words, “security guard” any normal person would think of the hilarious movie starring Kevin James, Mall Cop, and would assume that all mall security officers are as nice and friendly as Paul Blart. Larry and I had that exact same stereotype in our heads as we made our way over to the seemingly nice mall cop. (Who, might I add, kind of resembled Paul Blart.) Larry proceeded to ask him if we could take a selfie with him. The mall cop’s face turned into an instant frown. He harshly scolded, “THERE ARE NO SCAVENGER HUNTS IN THE MALL AND YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO TAKE PICTURES IN THE MALL.” To this, Larry and I responded with a polite, “Okay.” and continued on our way. But in my mind, I was appalled. Why would any mall prevent such fun? Larry and I decided to ignore his command in an attempt to protest. We took a picture with that awful security guard when he had his back turned, and won the scavenger hunt.

HOW DO YOU LIKE THEM APPLES, TURTLE CREEK MALL SECURITY?
(if you read this thank you and if you got my reference in the title bless you)

  1. I don't see any harm in having a scavenger hunt in the mall. It's not like we were stealing anything! We weren't hurting anyone or anything with fantastic seflies. I happen to think they were quite nice if I do say so myself! We were just couple of teens trying to have fun on a Saturday. I mean, we could have been out doing things far worse! I understand the fact that we weren't allowed to take a picture with the security guard. In the end, we had a great day and had plenty of fun so it wasn't a big deal to me.

  2. Karlee, I don't see any harm at all in having a scavenger hunt in the mall with a bunch of friends. it would be a different story if you were stealing things and causing a big ruckus. but as your story explained, there was no harm in taking pictures with random items and or people in the mall. I totally agree that this is completely not cool of the turtle creek mall to do this. I hope that it didn't put to big of a damper on your day that day. I hope that you have a great rest of your summer. stay out of trouble!

  3. karlee, first of all, your title is adorable, along with your little comments in parenthesis. anyways, this is so stupid!!!! there's nothing wrong with going around and looking for items in a mall. isn't that what you're supposed to do?? also, I saw the security guard that you're talking about the other day, and me and my brother immediately compared him to Paul Blart. I'm glad we didn't try to speak to him, because he sounds really rude. I think we should host a mall-wide scavenger hunt asap -Faith Brooks(11)

  4. HEY KARLEE, ITS MATTIE. I WAS ALSO DISGUSTED AT HOW RUDE THIS AWFUL MAN WAS TO US AND I'M NOT RRALLY SURE HOW HE CAN TELL US THAT WE CANT TAKE PICTURES IN THE MALL. HOW IS THAT A RULE???? Anyways, that day was really fun, besides that little mishap and me not winning two times. We should do it again some time. And Larry and Sydney only won because Larry made the darn scavenger hunt. And you and Larry only won because y'all are cheaters. But anyways, yeah let's do it again :-)
