It was dark. A couple of minutes ago, Mandy was sitting in a small source of light, now there was nothing but complete darkness. It surrounded her and made her feel uncomfortable. She was sitting at the bus stop waiting for her brother to finish working; he drove the bus on Wednesdays and Hunter told her he would pick her up. Her brother had done it once again. He abandoned her to walk home alone, but this time, in the dark. Heaven only knew what kind of dangers were lurking in the darkness before her. What if one of the dangers attacked her? She would make sure her brother got in trouble when she got home-if she wasn’t murdered first. As she began the treacherous journey in the dark, she noticed a dark shadow following behind her.
When Mandy turned around she saw nothing but a vacant parking lot and a flickering light above her. It was like a scene from a horror movie, and it was scaring Mandy. Slowly turning around, she began to quicken her pace. The shadow behind her was still following her; it stopped when she stopped and turned when she turned. Mandy’s heart began to beat quickly and she was having trouble catching her breath, she could feel a panic attack coming on.
“Boo!” someone yelled behind her, grabbing her arms. Mandy turned and used the pepper spray she had clutched in her hand. It took a couple of minutes to realize who she had just sprayed in the eyes with pepper spray. The long blond hair was a dead giveaway.
“Hunter, why did you do that?” she yelled. She pulled a tissue out of her purse and handed it to him. He immediately began to wipe his eyes.
“It was just a joke! I didn’t think it would scare you that much,” Hunter explained.
“You didn’t think that since I was alone and waiting on you in the dark I wouldn't get scared of someone jumping out at me? Nice thinking, Brother. Come on let’s go,” Mandy stated.
“On the bright side, at least I don’t have to worry about you being defenseless, spraying your own brother in the eyes and all,” he joked as he walked with Mandy to his car.
I love how well Hunter takes being sprayed in the eyes with pepper spray. "On the bright side, at least I don't have to worry about you being defenseless, spraying your own brother in the eyes and all." That's really great! I know I wouldn't be saying that if my sister sprayed me. I'd probably be crying 'cause that hurts a lot! Seriously, though. Great job on this post! It describes kinda what it's like to be paranoid, and I like that (as usual). Hope you keep writing! - Brittany Tucker
