number eight

When I was in elementary school, there were a group of girls that I always hung out with. This specific group of people were always invited to my birthday parties and they stayed the night with me and we did everything together basically.
I like to call these people my "OG Squad".
The OG Squad consisted of Karlee Sanders, Sam Lyles, Dianna Farrell, Hattie Milligan and Haven Robertson.
We've known each other since kindergarten. We're still friends, some not as close as others obviously. We don't talk as much, but I think we all still consider each other to be friends.
We played on the playground every day together. I remember one time when me, Sam and Haven decided to do "tattoos" on people if they gave us money. We weren't the brightest children. We obviously got caught after Ms. LeeAnn suspected something going on when there were thirty kids gathered around "the trees" getting drawn on with pen at recess.
Sam and I were always chasing the boys around the playground and making some of them cry.
We also hung out outside of school.
We came to each others birthday parties. I always had mine at a hotel. Those were the best days of my life. I still remember some of them quite vividly. We stayed up, watched every Jaws movie ever made, swam until our fingers were wrinkly and acted dumb all night long. *Ask Karlee, Sam, Dianna, Haven or Hattie about Kevin Shaneekay*
Me, Haven, Sam and Karlee all played on a softball team together for many years (I talked about softball in my previous post).
We also all played basketball together for a few years.
We were the best of friends, but we eventually grew apart, some of us farther than others. That's okay though, because I still have all the great memories of us together to look back on and they'll never go away. We'll always have Kevin Shaneekay :-)

  1. This was definitely the best squad ever. I actually remember you giving me a tattoo of a peace sign during your business days. Your birthday parties were some of the best nights. I remember when you and I thought we were so cool because we were the only ones who stayed awake the whole night. I really miss Kevin Shaneekay, too. And all of the bowled stuff we had.;) I swear we watched literally every shark movie that has been made. Anyways, I wish things were the same as they used to be. Life was so much easier back then! -Hattie

  2. I am really confused about Kevin Shaneekay, because I think I herd you talking about that once and it was just really bizarre. I can totally see little mattie and little haven getting caught running a little tattoo business on the playground.. Did you guys have to give everyone their money back? I bet you cried. Speaking of crying I can totally also see you and Sam making little boys cry. Wish I knew you guys back then :(

  3. This was really good. It brought back so many memories. I remember almost all of your birthday parties. Remember that time we ate your cake when you weren't there? I also remember watching all the shark movies like Hattie said. It does seem like life was easier back then. I do remember getting in trouble after starting the "tattoo" business. Basketball was really fun with all of you and so was softball. Remember when Dianna had to play softball with us one game because one of our teammates was missing? I miss these days. Good job!
