number four
One night, my mom and I decided go to the zoo the next day. The next morning, I was like "Mom this is stupid. Let's go somewhere else because we've been there a thousand times." She agreed, so we began thinking of other places we could possibly go on such short notice, as we were leaving town.
St. Louis? Been there.
Branson? Done that.
New Orleans? New place we've never been, why not?
So, we called my dad when we decided on this impromptu trip and he was skeptical of letting us go, but were going regardless.
After six short hours and multiple jam sessions, we arrived at New Orleans, Louisiana (NOLA for short) around 5 p.m. I could tell as soon as we got there that this was not the town for me. Talk about sketchy. The first (and last) thing we did was go to Bourbon Street. We went to a few shops and stores on the street, but most of the places I could go in because they were bars and clubs. It's not somewhere I would like to live. It smells bad and it's pretty nasty. I'm still convinced that my mom stepped in pee. After a couple hours or so, we decided it was time to get outta there. It was around 7 p.m. and we didn't want to drive all the way home. We were like "Okay we're not staying in this place so where's somewhere close we can go that we won't have to fear for our lives." We decided on Gulf Shores since it was only three hours away. After we got to Gulf Shores around 11 p.m., we got a hotel and got settled in. I convinced mom to go to the beach that night, so we went and sat on a pier on the beach for a while. The next day, we went back to the beach and ate at The Hangout. We eventually had to say bye to our happy place and head back home. This was one of my favorite trips because my mom and I didn't fight like we usually do and I got to go somewhere I've never been before.
