number five

One day a few years ago, Neon Trees came to the Convocation Center in Jonesboro. I was like "Why not? Cheap tickets, leggo." So, I asked Karlee if she wanted to go and she was on board. We were like twelve, so someone obviously had to take us. I asked my uncle and he agreed to accompany us (it was his first concert!!). The tickets were only $30, so we figured we'd have really crappy seats, but we were literally right beside the stage.
Every show has an opening act, obviously. This opening act was a little weird and out there (they warned us before they started that it'd be a little odd starting out). The band consisted of two guys named Josh Dun and Tyler Joseph. They called themselves "Twenty One Pilots". Josh was the drummer and Tyler sang and played piano (and busted out a really cool ukulele mashup at one point). We had never heard of these people before, but we knew we liked them from the start.
We sat through their songs kind of confused but intrigued at the same time. We eventually came to the conclusion that we liked them better than Neon Trees.
Karlee, my uncle and I stayed after the concert for an hour or so and took pictures with Twenty One Pilots (best decision of my life).
Immediately after the concert, we looked up all their songs and learned them and obsessed over how good they were.
A few years later, they got really huge and popular. They're on a world tour right this very moment. We actually went to one of their concerts a few days ago in St. Louis, Missouri (me, my mom, Austin, Karlee and my nephew Kyle). We all are also going to try to go to the one in Memphis in March.
Karlee and I have loved Tyler and Josh ever since they opened up for Neon Trees a few years back. We got the privilege of meeting these people and seeing them perform before they got famous.
