You Can't Even Touch Me - Harrison McCall #10

No, really you can't touch me, or anything for that matter. In your life, you will never physically touch something. This is because of atoms. Atoms make up everything and everything is made up of atoms. (That's why you never trust an atom, they make up everything) First I need to break down what an atom is. It is a structure that has a nucleus made up of neutrons (which have a neutral charge) and Protons (which have a positive charge). Then around the nucleus is the electron cloud, which holds electrons (that have a negative charge). The electrons orbit the nucleus of the atom because the positive and negative charges attract; however if two negative charges were to meet they would repel. This means that whenever you go to touch something the atoms that make you up will meet the atoms that make up whatever it is you're "touching." When this happens the first things to encounter each other would be the electron clouds, which are both negatively charged. This causes the two objects to repel each other. It is like trying to press the north end of two magnets together. They just won't go together. That is what happens between you and whatever you are grabbing. Now you can press the atoms close together, just like you can with the magnets. They just won't ever touch. There will always be a little distance, Planc's distance to be exact. This is the smallest distance to possibly exist between two physical objects. The reason you can hold things or the reason I can type on this keyboard is friction from the resistance of the electron clouds, which push the atoms away from each other. So you can't touch me because THE POWER OF SCIENCE IS STAGGERING. Just a little reference there, but next time somebody is annoyed by you touching them or something you were told not to touch explain to them you aren't touching them, you are just getting Planc's distance away from them/it. How do you like dem untouchable apples?

  1. I remember you talking about this however long ago it was because I think Summer and Jolene (not sure about Jolene?) were arguing with you. And I just sat there listening while wondering how you even knew all of that. It was actually pretty funny. I'm pretty sure I've heard this a few more times since then. Honestly, I don't even know what I'm talking about anymore. Although, when do I ever know what I'm talking about? Also, when do I ever talk? Am I just adding these questions for length? The world may never know. Now I'm thinking about the owl from the Tootsie Pop commercial. Or whatever it was. -Kim Wilson

  2. When you first started telling your rants to everyone, either this one of the "Up is Out" was what we first discussed. The conversations about your rants would always start by one of two ways. Someone would talk to you that you didn't want to talk to right then and you would throw the "Up is Out" one at them or we would just start babbling about random things and end up on the "Not Touching You" rant. But, both would end with someone yelling at us to shut up or we would get in trouble from the teacher because we weren't suppose to be talking. Keep up the great writing and have a great school year.
