Soo… we're just going to jump right into this. One of my favorite shows of all time is Strong Woman Do Bong-soon. And not just because of the awesome opening song, although that's definitely a plus! It's the first Korean Drama I've ever watched, and is probably always going to be one of my favorites.
Do Bong-soon (Park Bo-Young) comes from a long line of women with superhuman strength. All the women in her family are born with the power, but if they hurt an innocent person, they will lose their superhuman strength. Bong-soon is a 27-year-old who hasn't been able to keep a job since high school because she has a hard time hiding her powers. In the first episode, she ends up in a fight with a gang because they had attacked an old man, and then tried to attack her when she was trying to report them to the police. Needless to say, she totally ends up kicking their butts. Ahn Min-hyuk (Park Hyung-Sik), the CEO of the adult entertainment company Ainsoft (they made many famous video games), ends up at the scene as a witness. He testifies for her at the police station, saying it's ridiculous that a small woman could have brutally beaten seven men, saving her from a severe punishment. He then tries to hire her as a bodyguard because of the threats against his company and his life. She agrees, but proposes a deal: if they figure out who the person that is threatening him is, she gets to work in the Strategy Department of Ainsoft.
This show is one of the funniest shows I have ever watched. It's very over-dramatic, as seems to be the trend with K-Dramas, which makes the show pretty light-hearted. Although, as you get further into the show, it gets more serious while still keeping a good amount of silliness. There is plenty of action and fighting scenes in the show, considering our main character picks a fight with a gang in the first episode. The show also has cute romance, obviously. (Love triangle: Guk-doo [the police officer that Bong-soon has a crush on] < Bong-Soon < Min-hyuk). My favorite parts of the whole show were mostly the fight scenes, along with the personalities of Bong-soon and Min-hyuk. This show will most likely always hold a special place in my heart, and if anyone thinks they'd be interested in watching it, it's on Netflix!
I'm out!
