a pessimistic view on prom -18 sydney Adams

prom, a much anticipated, exciting and often times stressful event that for some reason every girl looks forward to growing up. I mean what's not to love? There's the tortuous month of waiting & wishing for one of the coveted promposals, trying on dress after dress-only further provoking your self loathing, wasting endless hours combing through every Pinterest board under the tag #prom #promhair #promdress #prommakeup #promposal
#prahm, only to finally settle upon an overpriced one you probably don't even like. Following those peachy preliminaries there are hair appointments to be made, nails to ruin by super gluing plastic ones to them, heels to break in/learn how to maneuver (preferably without breaking your ankle), and a grand entrance to plan out. once all your ducks are in a row and the long awaited night is finally there you spend the majority of the day stressing about all the things that could possibly go wrong. if by the grace of God everything goes off without a hitch and you and your girls/cute date roll up to the prom you've dreamt about your entire existence you will most likely be disappointed as you have made it out to be like that scene from the princess diaries movie where everyone ooohs and ahhs as you enter. this will not happen. you will walk in, some girls will tell you you look pretty, others will throw judgemental glances your way. you will compare yourself with everyone else there and then spend the rest of the night sitting around watching the few brave souls dance wishing you were that cool. that will be the extent of your prom, now go out and prep for next years bc I already am.
now this was supposed to be about the origin of prom and it just turned into a pessimistic complaint. I apologize and will try harder next time.

    hey sydney,
ill do my pessimistic view too.
    my tux cost 28277279$
and then when i went and got it i realized that i was a fat person. i literally started hating myself when i tried on my tux.
when i went to take pictures i knew i was gonna look ugly so might as well make myself look ugly as i can so i can make fun of myself instead of others making fun of me.
when you get in there. it was really nice. but there was no air conditioning so basically it was a furnace.
then they turned on the music so it got 14X hotter real quick. after that, the bathroom was crowded so I had to change in the restaurant parking lot. it was fun but there was definitely some cons
