Dinosaurs --Jo Baker- #18

Millions of years ago it has been said that dinosaurs existed. I started to wonder what all kinds there were. So I decided to write a blog on them to show some that existed back then. I hope this is educational and helps you picture a world back then where these giants existed. I hope this makes things a little more vivid.
  • Tyrannosaurus Rex: In Greek this name also means tyrant lizard while the word Rex means king in Latin. This dinosaur resided in the parts of earth that now make up western North America. This dinosaur traveled on two legs, balancing its large head with a heavy massive tail that sometimes had forty or more vertebrae. This dinosaurs length sometimes measured up to 13m (42ft), and could weigh up to seven tons. The skull of this dinosaur alone could measure up to five feet long.
  • Velociraptor:  This name also means swift seizer. Sometimes movies show these dinosaurs falsely. These dinosaurs were about the size of a turkey and are believed to of had feathers. A grown up Velociraptor could grow up to six feet in length, and weigh up to fifteen kg. Research shows that the Velociraptor most likely killed its prey with sickle shaped claws on its back feet. The first Velociraptor fossil was said to be found in the Mongolian Gobi Desert in the year of 1922.
  • Allosaurus: This name means different dinosaur. Allosaurus dinosaurs had a large skull and traveled on two legs. This dinosaurs large head and body were balanced out by a long and heavy tail. This dinosaur also had short arms with three fingers that each had sharp, curved claws. The average length of this dinosaur was twenty eight feet and weighed about two point three tons. This dinosaur was a carnivore that had big, sharp teeth with edges like saws. 307
I didn't know a lot about these dinosaurs that I listed until I read the research on them. I know this research helped me learn a lot more. I hope that for whoever else took the time to read this it was interesting. I like reading about things like this from times way back when we didn't exist yet. It also makes you wonder what will come in the future.
