Today is the first day of a Lyon ACT and Outdoor activity
camp. I woke up at about 9 in the morning. I didn't get to eat breakfast
because I woke up late. I got ready in about 15 minutes, I had to be quick
because church was about to start. I thought that I was signed up to work tech
at big church, but it turns out that Steve asked his wife to do it, because he
thought I wasn't going to be there because of the camp I would leave for that
day. We didn’t end up going until after church. I was going to miss the week
after as well because of Project CAVES. Rick gave a great sermon about the lame
man and how we are all like him until we are saved. I also drove to church in
my Jeep and drove my dad home after church. We got everything packed into my
mom's SUV, she decided to bring everyone with us. So, the SUV was packed full
of bags and people. We decided to stop to eat lunch. We were going to just
drive through Burger King, but Lela and Jordan convinced dad to stop and go in
for lunch. I ate an A1 bacon burger, a medium fry, and a medium root be
"How to lose a guy in 10 days." I know it is considered a chick
flick, but it is really funny. We got to Lyon with about a half hour left to
sign in, so we rushed in and got me signed in. They showed us where our dorm
rooms were and my mom helped me get all my stuff settled in. After we were
done, she and the rest of my family left, and I went down to the meet the other
campers for the first time. We helped the councilors carry "bubble
balls" to the rec field, then we played a game where you had to push a
giant rubber ball past the other team. Then we went to our first study session.
We did a couple parts of a practice ACT and talked with the main counselor
about the rules of the camp. After our study session we went back to the rec
field for a bon-fire, ultimate frisbee, and a movie. Then we went back to our
rooms and it was time for lights out.
